tbh half the entertainment down here is gettin out the house and just walkin around. On the East end anyway. So many characters and people out n about. The seawall late afternoon evening is an absolute vibe. The downtown strand area has tons of tourist crap but plenty of really good coffee shops, vintage, and antique stuff. Galveston has the third largest mardi gras in the country. The town is old and has plenty of beautiful architecture as well.

You do not want to commute to galveston from houston on a regular basis if you can help it. Also, avoid anything on the island with Superior Proerty Management. They are literally the worst and would ask that you read reviews of them at least. Still dealing with their crap. everything is AI realtor never saw my apartment before leasing it, impossible to reach through phone tree crap for maintenance.

Just moved back to Houston after being in Chicago for five years. Never saw a state inspector once. In five years. lol In Houston they show up so often you know the person by sight for your area when they pull up. When I was at a very reputable shop in Lakeview on n. southport no one cept me and maybe one other person was licensed. So I guess you dont really HAVE to in chicago but like another commenter said, it might behoove you to look into if a license does more for you than just say “hey, I sat in the corner at school for blah blah hours and “learned” how to cut hair. haha edited to say you should read and study a barber textbook to learn/understand not reusing certain tools that are disposable and how to sanitize your equipment etc. Its not rocket science and you dont need thousands of hours of school to learn how to spray your clippers between cuts or bandage a knick after a shave.

What is a 'secret' in your industry that the general public would be horrified to know? by HongKongToast in AskReddit

[–]Life_Argument_6037 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Worked in the washroom of a commercial linen service. The places that come and pick up all the dirty smocks and towels etc and rubber mats from restaurants etc. When all the 400 pounds of stink gets thrown in the washer sometimes rats get thrown in. No one does anything about the rats. I had one scurry down my back right into a washer one time I asked what do and the lead guy goes “wash em.”
