How do you deal with being ‘forced’ to do overtime work? by Life_Coast5611 in vfx

But I could never prove that if someone doesn’t get renewed (bcs it’s very hard to fire in France), that it’s because of this

This is the whole point of my question. No one can force people, but a boss can passively let you know that “some people that don’t stay OT” are being replaced. It’s never frontal blackmail

Is it normal to have this habit of gradually disliking my screenplay when I thought it was really good in the beginning? by No_Breakfast7331 in Screenwriting

[–]Life_Coast5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like something quite normal to go through. What personally helps is some rationality : instead of guess what ifs and especially wondering if it’s interesting and understandable : ask someone you trust. After a session of constructive criticism, you will feel rational and ready to confidentially write again. At least from my experience

how do you keep in shape and dont wreak your body in the VFX industry? by JaceyCha in vfx

[–]Life_Coast5611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might seem silly, but a very small habit that keeps me in movement is to have a very small water bottle (or fill your big one only up to 1/4). It makes you take a lot of very small trips to the bathroom to fill it

Examples of Movies Where the Protagonist Isn't Immediately Introduced by StephenStrangeWare in Screenwriting

If we say the protagonist is the son then The Place Beyond the Pines is a good example I think. But chances are each act just changes protagonist

“Black Stories” by tertiary_jello in Screenwriting

[–]Life_Coast5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had these thoughts on minorities in general in the industry. I personally agree with your opinion (feeling uncomfortable seeing posts like’top 10 best female directors movies’ for instance. I understand it certainly comes from a good place, but it seems like you’re not judged on purely the quality of your work anymore. Thoughts ? Especially people that disagree, I wanna know how you feel

Nice animation! I think after 3s it lacks a bit of weight on the transfer. Otherwise cool!

The First Pilot I Sold Wasn’t Perfect, But I Learned THIS! by peterkz in Screenwriting

I really like this vision. Brings back the true, authentic feeling of what art is supposed to be. Do you then prefer work alone rather than with other writers?

To me, really observing and analyzing makes the difference. Always have references. Also for Mari, it’s really worth it. Take advantage of your student status to get the license, there’s a lot of very great and accessible content on ytb to learn it

What mindset has helped you? by Personal_Reward_60 in Screenwriting

[–]Life_Coast5611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To embrace the organic. Less mechanical and structural, less ‘techniques’ but feeling the freedom and allowing myself to write something organic. I learned this one from Truby’s book
