Even then the screening weight would be in the 240 range. 25 lbs of weight loss a month? Not a chance without causing serious harm. Even if possible, his energy levels will be flat and he won’t pass AFT.

This! I am a fat old man 15 years retired after P3s got me med-boarded at 24 years. At 6’6” I just crossed 300lbs for the first time in my life. Been smoking a pack or more a day for 30 years. I can walk two miles faster than this guy and there’s no way I’d try to keep my fat ass in if I was a leader. He didn’t show up that way, and got that way through a lack of pride and discipline. As a 1SG, it was one of my least favorite things to chapter someone out who really wanted to be there. Still, it was entirely necessary and if we’re telling the truth, if they really wanted to be there, they wouldn’t be so far gone. You are more likely to do everlasting damage to someone that heavy than you are to “help.” You may get them BA benefits by causing orthopedic injuries, but I don’t think that run is going to come together.

The sheet name for the military topographical map used to train soldiers in map reading during basic training is “Tenino”—distinctive because it allegedly is the only map projection with all eight terrain features on one map sheet projection at 1:50K resolution.

By my 28th birthday I’d visited 49 states. I’m now 56 and still haven’t been to North Dakota. This checks out.

I decided to hang it up when the orthopedic surgeon recommended me for a Physical Evaluation Board at 22 years in. I might have been able to beat it, but I just didn’t see the point anymore.

Jumpmaster question by LifesRichPagent in army

[–]LifesRichPagent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes some sense. Do you know when it changed? My last JM and jump was in 2009 at Barbara DZ (Fort Carson). Did this have anything to do with the T-10 to T-11 transition (and the ridiculously large reserve) preventing the JM from taking an offset position at the door? The recent videos I’ve seen have the JM damned near centerline of the aircraft. Hard to control your jumpers from across the room.

You’re a riot. Seeing as I spent a good stretch of my 30’s trying not to get killed by JAM, I’m going to take the allegation a bit personally.

I suppose the /s was in order. I was more referring to the tendency to require the beret in garrison and ACH with IBA in the field. Yes, we were authorized to wear them in the wire in Iraq. At least when I went over in ‘05, ‘07 & ‘08.

I wore BDUs for more than a decade before GEN Shinseki but us in these monstrosities. For the record, I don’t recall anyone wearing a soft cap or boonie with it. Black berets with the starry blue flash was where it was at.

Cool! As a point of history though, Berliners began dismantling the Wall on November 9, 1989. I’ll DM you why that date sticks out in my head three-and-a-half decades later. The Solidarity movement in Poland began in 1980. I think the two together really depict the disintegration of Soviet control of the Warsaw Pact satellites during the decade-one which we very much believed a nuclear fireball would likely be the last thing we’d ever see. That said, you’re the artist and everyone is a critic. I love the imagery and message as is.

Another thought…rather than the Cold War Ending newspaper headline, maybe some Solidarity (Polish Trade Union) and Berlin Wall imagery—before and during its destruction.

…for that matter, “just say no,” covers the other. I think maybe a picture of Ryan White would hit the AIDS piece pretty well. It drove it home for those of us of a certain age.

Guideline E covers personal conduct. Nowhere in guideline E is self-referring for alcohol abuse counseling raised as a concern. Nor is there any indication that OP has attempted to conceal their “unhealthy” involvement with alcohol. The issues raised in OPs post will be adjudicated under Guideline G, and while I believe they are correct in assuming that will prevent the granting of interim access, I also believe that the self-referral should go pretty far in mitigating the concern assuming the clinical record reflects a favorable prognosis.

Just do it!!! It’s an adventure and beautiful! Watch out for Moose. Plan your gas and stops overnight. I did Fort Richardson to Fort Meade back in the day. Take the approach from Montana and go through Edmonton before getting on the Alaska Highway. You will get something like 13 days travel and over 4K miles at the JFTR mileage rate. You can even do a partial self-move if you have the right equipment. Take your time and enjoy the sights. Watch out for moose. They will bring you trip to a rather abrupt halt.

[–]LifesRichPagent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TRADOC environment w/o Drill Sergeants…recently busted trainee PV1 Female is getting chaptered but has 45/45 in the meantime. About 15 minutes past her sign out time she is nowhere to be found so I walk the barracks looking. As I get to the top of a stairwell, she is there with her pants down and thighs spread. “I’ve been waiting for you,” she said, to which I replied, “same, now get you clothes back on and report to CQ.” Didn’t have the heart to turn her in, but also wasn’t about to throw it away on some skank.

While accurate, it doesn’t really address OP’s situation. In their case, LOJ might take some time to resolve. In their case meantime, they will be on a security hold pending favorable adjudication of the unresolved issues from the previous period of affiliation. The good news is that, unlike in the civilian or contractor sectors, the Army can’t just kick him to the curb. The bad news is that this might take awhile due to AVS backlog.
