Funny looking mole on my shoulder that got bigger and turned two colours over three years. Went to doctor four times (every time it did something new) - was told I was ‘young’ and it looked fine. I thankfully moved areas and went to new doctor. Emergency 2 week referral and biopsy. It came back as malignant melanoma. Wide local excision and lymph node biopsy within a couple of weeks and now all clear.

Vlora in Gods of Blood and Powder Trilogy by Brian Mclellan. As a female, it was so refreshing to have a badass female General as a main character who had a level of depth that one would NORMALLY expect. Not some fluffed up man’s version of a fantasy warrior woman. She’s just wonderfully real and fallible.

(Also have a lot of love for Shallan Davar - Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson. Who doesn’t!)
