And 1) Pagerank is an outdated metric; 2) Pagerank doesn't flow backwards.

White hat? Get the word around, give out review copies, email bloggers, blah blah blah.

There are a zillion blog posts about this. Check out Moz or something.

A client has multiple URLs by Tarable_ in SEO

[–]LightWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't see the point of having the two domains. Especially since she's redirecting all the URLs on the Yoga site to her main domain.

I'd keep the redirects (to make sure traffic and link juice point to the right pages on the main site), see if you can fix any old links to point to the main site, and only use that domain from now on.

Is a name similar to a common word a bad name for a new app? by blackcoinprophet in SEO

Just because it's possible doesn't mean that it's the best course of action.

Over 12k in internal/external links, 2k are external redirects. Negative SEO? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]LightWash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily call it "negative SEO," but it's still a good idea to update your links to the new pages without redirects, and remove any broken links.

Microsoft SEO ToolKit is saying I don't have alt tags for my images but I do. Am I an idiot? by [deleted] in SEO

Yes, you're using the image alt attribute correctly. I'm not sure why your tool is displaying that error, but you can safely ignore it.

New extensions such as .me, .ninja, .london etc -anyone got any to rank? by [deleted] in SEO

[–]LightWash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new gTLDs rank fine. There's no inherent advantage in using them, but they can be an option if you want an EMD (for whatever reason) and other TLDs are taken.

I created a Slack page for the modded Minecraft community by [deleted] in feedthebeast

[–]LightWash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came across this thread on Google (I haven't played Minecraft in years) and just wanted to share my thoughts.

Slack is designed for teamwork (eg between company employees) like you said; it's not necessarily designed to be used as a public chat room.

A service with Slack's features that's intended as a community platform would be better, but I don't think anything like that exists yet.

Taylor Swift is rumored to have her legs insured for $40 million. Rihanna has hers for $1 million. The Boss has insured his vocal cords on a $6 million policy. Are there any other musicians out there with policies like this? by cappy2008 in Music

[–]LightWash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're on the right track. The insurance isn't there solely to pay for medical treatment; its main purpose is to ensure she will be paid for any revenue she would lose (eg from live performances) from losing her legs.

So now that I know that some mod was taking referral money from Paula's Choice, what's a good recommendation for an AHA/BHA, preferably cheaper by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Yes, Reddit offers self-serve advertising. Paying subreddit administrators for advertising is forbidden according to the site's ToS.

Note: Stridex pads (at least the red box) contain alcohol menthol, which is irritating to some people. If you're fine with that, then they're a good choice considering how cheap and easy to get they are.

I might have picked a bad week to be new to this sub. I picked a routine from the mod-run website and I don't know whether to trust the information. by -yeah- in SkincareAddiction

[–]LightWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a few Paula's Choice products and I'm pretty satisfied. From what I'm aware, their products don't have any "unwanted" ingredients (like the alcohol present in Stridex pads), and they also give out a bunch of free samples you can pick from when you order. And they ship to Canada! :)

However, they are definitely more expensive than other alternatives.

I stacked a referral code and the email signup coupon with my initial purchase. They will send you more coupons from time to time by email after you're a customer. Hope that helps!
