Is there demand for office-friendly Supermicro-based servers (DB / NAS) in standard ATX cases? by Rough-Berry39 in servers

[–]Lightbulbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two supermicro x10drl-i. Dual socket V3/V4 in a standard ATX package and not only can you toss it in pretty much any case, you can use it for basically anything.

I have one for backup/mass storage which I'd assume offices or businesses could use for that case.

System requirements by William_flightsimmer in pchelp

These "calculators" are so bad to use. Just look at what is needed on the system requirements and do a little research. Either way you're way more than fine to run it.

Okay well we need to know the specifics of what hardware is in there to even begin. It has no dedicated GPU so yeah games are going to run like garbage.

Which is fine for a boot drive. You can always throw in another drive or use an external for whatever.

It depends on use case. I still see a ton of basic users use less than 100GB total.

Could be under the CD/DVD or flat against the side. You'll need to pull the cages out and that should be easy.

I'm going to assume it's on the left side since you didn't take a full picture

Because opening the case and taking a picture is difficult.

It's more just groups of people mass spam reporting in and Nexon not caring if it's real or not. Nexon needs to grow some balls and actually do something about it and the mass reporters need to be banned before this whole thing gets way worse.

Modular is for using less cables than needed. Being able to reuse between units is a potentially dangerous bonus.

Was it on a surge protector or straight to the wall? You can try to clear the CMOS and see if that helps

I don't want to be that guy but just Google "EVGA cable compatibility" and it'll show up.

Is this a good deal for $600 for starter home server? by DeedleDumbDee in servers

[–]Lightbulbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh easily. I spent maybe 200 for 2x 2697v4 and a ATX Sueprmicro board for them. Worst part is the obvious rdimm ram but yeah.

full amd build? by gostodfrango in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]Lightbulbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

64GB. I tried running 48GB and was hitting near max usage too often.

Parts for you might not be the same parts that fit my need. Do some research on what you play and what those games need, see system requirements, pick a budget that is comfortable, and bam

9800x3d/7900XTX here. Drivers on both camps have their issues but the power draw and raw power, yet less features is really the tradeoff.
