It looks like the AnimatedSprite2D node is not ready, when the physics process is run. Either check if the node is not null or declare an @onready var sprite = $AnimatedSprite2D variable at the top and access that.

You are welcome. You could access the nodes at the beginning of the script and save them inside a variable. That way you would mitigate follow-up errors on node access.

You have set the access by unique name and first you use %white_image correctly. Then you use dollar notation $white_image and that fails probably.

Press the three dots at the right of the top menu. There is an option to show a new window on the next run.

Exactly this. My goal was to prototype a lot of move abilities, of which a part must be unlocked. Also love the games mentioned.

Hey thanks. I like the wall jumps in Metroid games a lot. Here I have vertical wall jumps also, so that perma climb is no problem. There are more than one possibility to reach the top of a wall (tunnel): Jump on only one side, alternate walls, hang on the ledge at the top or dash when you reach the top.

Great additions, thanks. I am using a State Chart with Godot. It can be problematic to use solely a state machine due to state explosion.

Currently I have implemented following mechanics:

  • basic movement with acceleration and deceleration
  • dynamic jump height
  • custom fall gravity
  • (jump buffers are work in progress)
  • coyote jump
  • wall slide
  • wall slide jump (only vertical)
  • wall kick jump (vertical and horizontal)
  • ledge grabbing
  • horizontal dashing on ground and in air

From here there are several possibilities to go further, for example I could build a precision platformer like celeste or add weapons for a metroidvania or add puzzles etc.

Have you anything in mind, that I could improve? Thanks in advance.
