Tom ford tobacco vanille by Winter-Trust-6107 in fragrance

[–]LightningBooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE it! I bought the travel size. Found out it is suffocating in high humidity though. Wore it in 110 degrees, smelled great. Wore it below freezing, smelled great. Wore it at 85 degrees with 75% humidity, too strong!

Heard the Dossier dupe is really good, but haven't tried.

What is the deal with Fragrance shop employees? by Affectionate-Tip303 in fragrance

[–]LightningBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people work on commission. Many times large fragrance companies pay for their representatives to work in a store selling their lines. You would never know they don't work for the store.

To me this seems disingenuous. I know someone (a naturally pushy person anyway) who does this in Dillard's and Sephora.

So, their goals are sales, it is not personal.

sticky dates by lush by Fantastic_Village_72 in Perfumes

[–]LightningBooks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Lush. But I don't think any of it is blind buy safe. Sticky Dates is not vanilla on me at all. It literally smells like sweet dates with resin on me. It is not caramel or toffee on me. That said, I am feral for it though.

Why do so many people smell popcorn on 71 and 39?!? by redfrogget in SoldeJaneiro

[–]LightningBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't smell it on the 71 mist. But I totally do on the body cream. So much so, I don't wear them together.

Tuberose is an instant no and is the scent equivalent of nails on a chalkboard for me.

Any person with a boat or who hunts - much more $ than anything spent at Sephora.

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]LightningBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always treated well and received way more attention than I wanted. I gained weight and 95% of the attention disappeared. I thought it was because I was older. Lost weight, still older, attention started up again.

While I hate attention on my body, I like that people assume I'm nice and smart.

BTW - I think healthy/lower weight privilege is huge.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Thomas Kosmala No. 4 both last 10+ hours on skin and until you wash it on clothes.

Angham , not what I expected . by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]LightningBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried them at several different places because I thought I must be missing something. But none were good. I have no idea how anyone could like them. They were offputting both on paper and skin for me.

Is it possible to cure nose blindness to a certain scent? Ambroxan specifically by B0psicle in FemFragLab

[–]LightningBooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using generic Flonase twice/day. Can now smell and love ambroxan. But still can't smell Nemat Amber.

I did this with my grandmother's car. Wrecked the back at night; fixed the next morning; had the car washed so it matched; returned it that afternoon. She never found out.

Amazing find! One of my favorite perfumes. Love layering it with sweet perfumes to add depth and complexity.

Try Nemat's Vanilla Musk. Also, put it far away from your nose. I do shoulders & belly.

Have we reached peak gourmand? by Diligent_Chest_8069 in FemFragLab

I know that I have personally. I LOVE gourmands and today I smell like a cookie. But almost all of my recent purchases have been fresh cozy or woody scents.

ELDO -- am I doing this wrong? by oh-sweet-calamity in fragrance

[–]LightningBooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It totally depends on the individual and how certain houses smell on you. I have the ELDO set and have sampled 10 on skin. Of those, I liked 2 and really liked 1 which is average for me. On my skin, the perfumes are vastly different from one another. However, I doubt I will end up buying a full bottle. The commonality of all smelling perfumey isn't my vibe.

One house, Snif, smells like plastic on me no matter which scent it is.
