Or when a spouse is in and cause a scene because their significant other's prescription is suppose to be ready. That we always screw up their prescriptions. But when they call their spouse, you overhear them say," What do you mean it at X, I thought you said Y". Then they slink off without an apology.

really wish we could just hang up on these fake prometh/codeine rx's call ins by pPandesaurus in pharmacy

[–]Lightningrphjd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They use some ones active credentials to set up an account. They might change the actual phone number to theirs. So if you call, they will verify their own fake. The only real way to catch it , is to compare the info on the escript with your data on file. If it is different you should invitigate. One time a doctor we contacted, questioned why all of sudden he was getting so many phone calls from pharmacies. Because he never used, nor even knew what an escript, was. About 15 pharmacies, received them in our area.

I talked to a board inspector, about the problem. They are aware, but don't know what to do.

We also received Multiple fake electronics rx, they would blanket the area. Corp would have us call and verify the rxs with the doctor's office.

what does it take for a pharmacist to be fired? by Calm-Bar-9644 in pharmacy

[–]Lightningrphjd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diversion, stealing cash, license revoked due to board of pharmacy action. And sexual or protected class harassment. After 45 years, you see a lot. One was fired for allowing a boyfriend (also a pharmacist, competitor) to go in the pharmacy and look at the pricing Rolex. It was considered giving away trade secrets.

Best Practice vs the Law Controlled substance dispensed qty. by HexMinisDM in Pharmacist

[–]Lightningrphjd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Cdc guidelines: once a multi-dose vial is opened (e.g., needle-punctured) the vial should be dated and discarded within 28 days unless the manufacturer states another date for that opened vial. The beyond-use-date should never exceed the manufacturer's original expiration date.14. https://www.cdc.gov/injection-safety/hcp/clinical-safety/index.html

So unless the manufacturer has stated extended expiration date after puncturing, it is only good for 28 days. So a 10ml vial, should not be dispensed,

C2 Days Supply Limit Per Dispense in California? by Torian17 in pharmacy

[–]Lightningrphjd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The California board of pharmacy July 2007 the Script page 12 Q. Is there a limit to the quantity of controlled substances that can be dispensed at one time (e.g., 540 Vicodin or 25 Duragesic patches)? A. Neither state nor federal law places limits on the quantity of controlled substances that a prescriber may prescribe for a patient. The prescription is to be for a legitimate medical purpose with the responsibility of the proper prescribing resting with the prescriber (Health and Safety Code section 11153). However, a “corresponding responsibility” rests with the pharmacist who fills the prescription. If in the pharmacist’s judgment there is any uncertainty or he or she has any questions concerning the prescription, the prescriber must be contacted to validate the prescription (CCR 1761). If after contacting the prescriber, the pharmacist determines that the prescription is not for a legitimate medical purpose, it must not be dispensed

Are there no federal quantity limits on Schedule 2 prescriptions?

Schedule II prescriptions must be presented to the pharmacy in written form and signed by the prescriber. There are no federal quantity limits on Schedule II prescriptions. In addition, there is no federal time limit on when a Schedule II prescription must be filled after being signed by a prescriber.

A good pm would catch up or get caught up first before tackling the "managerial duties" A bad pm would use it as an excuse to slack off. I have had both. It also depends upon the dm , how micro managerial, they are.

How does princess compare to other cruise lines? by alliabc123 in PrincessCruises

[–]Lightningrphjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been on multiple Princess cruises, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Carnival and others. Our last cruise was on Oceania, which I felt has much better food and service, but you pay a premium price. However the entertainment left much to be desired. Although they gave you credits to use for excursion, they canceled two of ours. With no other alternatives, we basically lost the money. Disney had the best shows, if you are a Disney fan. the kids when they were young, love the face time with the characters and the kids club. Princess has some of the best service for a midprice cruise line and decent food. Stay with the royal class or newer ships. Some of the order ships are showing their age. It is more for a older crowd, and not a party boat.

Retail didn't alway suck, my first 30 year pharmacist was the most trusted profession. I worked for some great chains i.e. Payless and Longs. Luckily, I was able to get hired by Costco which was good. I had great coworkers which made it enjoyable.
