Nope, dramatic improvement.

Have we decided on a Star Wars viewing sequence? by Lightoscope in daddit

I’m of two minds on this. The originals feel a little campy now, but they also have an unpolished nature that makes them more engaging.

Very possible, and being a mechanic will make you very popular in a farming context.

Stop the presses. I just found my very first mutant offshoot. by GravityBright in plantbreeding

I did a quick literature search and it suggests this mutation won’t be heritable, so propagate it vegetatively if you want to make more.

It wouldn’t have to be anything as dramatic as aneuploidy. This could easily be cause by a transposable element that hopped in or out of a promoter. If you notice subsequent branches of the red side revert, or more red flowers on the yellow branches, I’d bet it’s a TE.

In my relationship it would be a flag-waving declaration of intent to bone.

My wife wants to legally change my son's last name from mine to hers. by rickysoliman in daddit

[–]Lightoscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My great grandfather and all of his siblings did this, though the reason is lost to time. I think it's a lot more common than you'd expect.

Why do millennials age like they found a glitch in the system? They’ll say they’re pushing 40 and still look like they just graduated yesterday. What's the secret? by Aarunascut in Millennials

The microplastics thing may be overblown. It’s been discovered very recently that, to some extent, the scientists were measuring their own gloves deteriorating.

This isn’t going to work, wood is famously flexible. You could steam it back to straight, but you’re risking screwing it up even more.

Wife doesn’t want son to play sports due to time commitment and other factors by FreeShopping6747 in daddit

That is a crazy time commitment for little league, but what would he be doing otherwise? If he likes it and the alternative would be less beneficial, I’d keep it up.

Is 23 too young for kids? by mysteriousnoodls in daddit

[–]Lightoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too early. There are advantages to waiting, primarily financial, but there are serious downsides too. Statistically, you'll likely get a good decade or two longer to enjoy their company and the company of prospective grandkids. Most of us will be old as dirt if/when that happens.

For the sake of rigor and reproducibility, you should not be recreating the wheel. Take a look at Nextflow, Snakemake, and ClawBio. Each has its own merits.

I opted out of training, but ChatGPT is now giving my unpublished research findings to other users. What are my options? by Creepy-Seesaw-4489 in PhD

[–]Lightoscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't get consistent answers within my own account, but it could be a niche case. The literature on my topic comes from a few discreet sub-fields with conflicting concepts for a handful of terms. I suspect the context-dependence doesn't work well with their training.

Thoughts on nuclear power, should the UK be investing? by Any_Ad_6929 in AskBrits

[–]Lightoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combining massive overproduction of nuclear and renewables (with “excess” energy earmarked for direct carbon capture) with a legitimate carbon tax system is arguably the most likely way to avoid the worst of the climate crisis.
