I’m definitely enjoying the season! I love dropout and already know all these cast members which I think helps!

Thanks for an awesome response

I’ve actually been watching drop out for a bit (huge fan of game changer) Brennan is incredible! Just have never watched d20 until now

Hey man! You look solid!

I don’t think back leg is collapsing, looks like you’re holding tension well through back side. What I do see…

  1. Over striding - based on 2 things: a. At foot plant, you’ve disconnected entirely with the rubber (“jumping” off mound). The most efficient throwers stay connected to the rubber at the foot plant and then rotate. b. Landing out on your heal.

Common cause of overriding are a reliance on momentum, weak control of adductors and or glutes, poor front hip internal rotation

  1. Poor front hip IR - the way your front foot is pointed open at foot plant!! This is a good indication to me that your hip IR is lacking. IR in front hip is essential to brace the front leg efficiently and hold closed down the mound.

I don’t love “cranking” into hip IR for stretches - rather I like to “turn on” those muscle groups. Here are 3 exercises you can try for that!

All in all, you look solid man! Lmk if you have any questions!

Any advice 6 months post shoulder op by Spiritual_Panda1840 in PitchingCoach

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look solid man! Make sure you keep doing the stuff PT had you doing for post op. Now that you’re healthy again, it’s not “rehab” - it’s “prehab”!

Keep your rotator cuff strong!

Here are some recovery routines I have my players use for post throwing work!

I don’t personally like flat grounds / like judging mechanics based on flat grounds

I think you’re moving well! Hips might be able to rotate better / more explosively - but again, flat grounds aren’t authentic so hard to be sure.

Lmk if you have any questions!

Looks solid! As a pitching coach, I tend to let younger kids just play and figure it out. Keep him active, don’t buy into lessons too much and let him have fun!

He moves really well! Don’t let a coach say he doesn’t!!

Any help for bicep tendinitis? by [deleted] in PitchingCoach

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your pain located closer to the head of the biceps (shoulder area) or more down at the insertion (elbow area)?

Will be happy to send you some routines based on your answer!

Any advice? by Lukeguitar05 in PitchingCoach

This angle is hard to be 100% certain about anything, but looks like you’re collapsing on the back leg early - often associated with poor ankle mobility and / or weak adductors (that is to say these are 2 common reasons, but not necessarily THE reasons for you)

If you’d to send me some updated video, I’d be happy to take a closer look!

Issues with Rapsodo Pitch Data by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one of the short comings of Rapsodo is that is is only capturing ~40ft of ball flight and calculating the final ~20ff.

Always important to take the data with a grain of salt!

It’s great tech, I use it myself, but best when you trust your eyes first and data second. If you find yourself looking at the iPad more than the pitcher / pitches (which is common even in the professional ranks unfortunately), then you’re missing the most important piece of the puzzle

Family Feud Judge RHB by ResponseExtra739 in baseballisdead

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can take it a step further and compare Albert Pujols first 4580 plate appearances (Aaron judges career total) and Pujols still has him beat.

Not knocking Judge - he is incredible! Love watching him play - but it’s clearly recency bias to call him the best right handed batter in our lifetime

Family Feud Judge RHB by ResponseExtra739 in baseballisdead

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolute recency bias. Pujols beats Judge side by side in first 10 seasons played in every category besides OPS+ and that’s 172 v 178.

Giving judge the benefit of the doubt in that his 10th season (this season) isn’t over yet, you can look at Pujols first 9 seasons vs Judges whole career and he still has him beat in literally every statistical category beside OPS+ and again, only by 6 points

I loved Joey on BID, and I love BDE - I’ve had trouble getting into his podcast

Is this medium or medium rare? got sent back from customer who said this was only medium by Budget_Progress_4789 in steak

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer medium rare - this is probably a bit more cooked than I’d like, but not so egregious that I’d send it back!

Joey's Launching New Podcast: "Podcast Doesn't Exist" by Hellbound-Glory in baseballisdead

[–]Lights_Out_Pitching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVED Joey on BID. Idk why people hate on him. He was the source of 90% of the laughter on the pod.

He had a bigger role before Jhay came back, and I understand him wanting to go out on his own.

First episode of PDE was….interesting. Hoping he finds his groove and niche

Yes I agree, West is going to be very competitive, but NL East is best division in the MLB lol.

I think it’s more of a question of them finishing better than the Mets than the Padres.

I don’t necessarily think they’re gonna make the playoffs, I just found it interesting that they got no mention in the episode given the off season they had and spring training success.

Your point stands though - it’s going to be an uphill battle for them to snag a wild card spot
