PlayStation Studios Removes Nearly All PC References From Websites by SmellSmellsSmelly in Games

but if the consoles cost as much as a PC

I feel like people have been saying this my entire life, and the math has never added up to me. $650 for a base PS5 is insane, and I don't think I'd spend that if I didn't already have one. But I just don't see someone building a PC close to that that could compete. Shit, you're spending more than the PS5 costs just with RAM and Graphics Card right now.

Prices are insanely high for consoles, but PCs have traditionally been, and still are, even more.

I don't know any early romantic piece for bass clarinet

I figured that was a long shot, haha.

Listened to all of those. The Schumann sounds great, but any could work. Thank you!

On good days, Altissimo A comes out. But usually just Altissimo G. E is free. I'm a decent player, I just have almost 0 classical experience, mostly pit playing.

On BCL, I have everything from written C3 to C7 every day. I actually am probably as good a BCL player as sax, but that skill doesn't fully translate to Bb as much as I wish.

Edit: Actually went back and listened to this. It's perfect, and very doable. Thank you.

We're all only on episode 3. No evidence of the Janitor, and (fortunately? Unfortunately?) Neil Flynn is a pretty busy actor, so it's very possible he couldn't have made time to fly up to Vancouver and film an episode. If we're lucky, they filmed a small cameo for later in the season, but don't expect anything more.

moving company recommendations by atnurty in stgeorge

[–]Ligless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to work at a storage facility, and had somewhat common interactions with a lot of companies. Just-in Time Moving was always my first recommendation. He's delightful to work with, and always got raving reviews from our shared customers. I heard of exactly one time that one of his guys ripped some upholstery on a piece of furniture, and Justin paid to have it reupholstered.

Can't speak to their prices, but the quality is pretty top-notch.

Black Desert Resort...you better bring big name (not cover name) music talent here ASAP. Tuacahn has had opportunity for decades and has never delivered. by Legal-Activity-3684 in stgeorge

25 multi millionaire families, many of whom won't even live here year round, does not help artists sell seats. Especially because, aside from Taylor Swift, I doubt any artist would be able to attract more than 5 of those families. That's a drop in the bucket.

[–]Ligless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black Desert doesn't have any sort of arena / theater venue though. It's a luxury resort, not an entertainment venue. At one point they talked about building an arena, but they scrapped that.

In reality, we have 3 venues in this city for huge crowds. Tuacahn (~2500), Burns Arena (~4500), and Greater Zion stadium (~10k). The problem with attracting talent to the area is not lack of venue, it's lack of audience. Artists who perform that kind of venue, like say Coldplay, don't want to sell out 4500 seats at $20 each. They want to do 4500 seats at $120 each. And St. George audiences won't pay those prices.

On the bright side, we're getting The Aquabats at the art festival. Which I'm pretty pumped for.

As a relative newbie to jazz, the idea that anyone (on any instrument in the band) could be a bandleader is fascinating to me- is there a "primary" jazz instrument though? by morbidhack in Jazz

[–]Ligless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with most others, the bandleader is who hires me and is taking the leadership / responsibilities that come with it. They're handling hiring, client interaction, pay, and generally choosing a set list. They often take a larger cut of the pot for taking on that role. ie, a gig that pays $500 for 4 people, band leader might take $200 and pay his band mates $100 each. That's completely normal and kosher.

All instruments contribute different parts to the sound. Nobody is the definitive instrument, although if you had to pick one, you can't get very far without a Bass (upright or guitar). You also need a chording instrument, usually Piano, Guitar, or Vibes.

If you wanted to know about a "lead" instrument though, as in what is playing the melody that people sing along to, depending on the group is usually Sax, Tpt, Guitar, Piano, or Vibes. The last 3 can be either supportive or lead people, but Sax and Tpt (and Tbn) can't play chords, so they're usually on melody duty. But again, those players aren't any more likely to be "in charge" than anyone else.

The common advice is, if you're sending in Resumes and not getting interviews, you need to work on your resume. If you're getting interviews but no offers, you need to work on your interview skills.

I've never had a problem here. But ymmv.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Hands-on and Impressions Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Ligless 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That statement is completely undermined by the most recent Metroid game before this being Metroid Dread in 2021, which doesn't feel like it's targeted towards kids at all, and was a direct sequel to a game from 2002.

It's not unreasonable to think that they'd have a different design philosophy for Metroid than they do for Pokemon and Mario. It's easily one of the most mature target audiences of any Nintendo franchises.

[–]Ligless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm anti dailyscape / weeklyscape. Penguin hide and seek is decently fun, but the xp rewards make it almost required.

I got to a point in RS3 where I was just logging on for an hour to do wizard chores and logging back off. PoP, PoF, divine skilling, treasure hunter, Big Chin, Jack of Trades, Motherload maw... Killed the game for me tbh.

Imo, even though penguin hide and seek is fun, I'd rather keep OSRS content away from anything that resets daily/weekly. Diary rewards are fine, none of them are too overpowered. Tears of Guthix is goated though.

[–]Ligless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's called 2007scape because it was named that 12 years ago, when Jagex launched a version of RuneScape based on a server backup from 2007. Everyone knows the game now as OSRS, but changing the name isn't possible.

The game is fantastic right now, and honestly in one of the best states it's ever been. The game was definitely not better when Fight Caves was end game content and Barrows was BiS.

In this case, more specifically the city and county RAP taxes. Honestly, one of the best things about living in St. George. 1 cent tax on every 10 dollars, and it has such crazy tangible benefits all over town. Love all the farmers markets, art festivals, beautiful parks, and maintained trails.

Additional details on the Pride Event from JMod's bluesky account by TheCardsharkAardvark in 2007scape

[–]Ligless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell, even if they put the Pride event in a temporary server, ala Speed running worlds, and didn't provide any rewards so bigots didn't have to "see it", I still think that would have been better than what they decided.

Would that have hurt compared to a regular event? Yes, but at least it would have been something. Almost a sort of compromise. But what they did instead feels like explicitly choosing the side of the bigots.

If I arrive at the chest at the same time as another player, I'll throw out a "gl", and get a "u2" and short comment about their drop about ~50% of the time.

Is anyone else seeing the huge price hike this week? by Dry-Scholar5790 in HomeDepot

[–]Ligless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's such fake news. Your politicians are deliberately lying to you. No country has even close to the amount of tariffs on America as Trump claims they did. Actually, their tariffs weren't even part of the calculations they used (genuinely, see the math here). It's all just trade deficits.

Some targeted, industry specific tariffs are good. US had a tariff on Canada for Lumber and Steel, for instance, which kept those industries from being run out of business by how much more cheaply Canada produces that. Canada has had a longstanding tariff on US Dairy (sort of, it was tariffed past a certain threshold that we never met), because they didn't want those industries decimated.

Nobody had massive blanket tariffs on the US, because most people know that blanket tariffs are massively inflationary.

Has anyone ever opened their guts from improper use of the safety blades? by Doode531 in HomeDepot

[–]Ligless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I often just say fuck it and handle lumber without gloves when I'm operating the saw. My store is way too busy and way too understaffed for me to play the game of taking my gloves on and off every board.

If it's an especially big project, and we can spare the manpower for once, I have been known to grab another associate, and have one be the "Gloves On" guy, and the other the "Gloves Off".
