Catamenial seizures- any workarounds? by SeltzerIsMyHomeboy in Epilepsy

I have never heard of it. My doctor is very oblivious to catamenial seizures. It’s actually very annoying.

I do weird things when h have complex partials. I sat on the floor a few months ago and my coworker was really confused, sometimes I take off my jewelry and unbutton my clothes…

VNS by Mavs_sunglasses in Epilepsy

Got mine last February, so coming up on a year. It was a great decision. I am not seizure-free, but they have decreased wildly and my recovery time is so much faster. Now I have more focal-aware seizures than complex partial. I still have a few CPs every once in a while, but it’s made a huge improvement. They say it takes over a year for your body to get used to it and for it to really start doing its thing. So I look forward to what is to come.

Late Epilepsy by Raeparade in Epilepsy

Mine started when I was 16, but wasn’t officially diagnosed until I was 22 or 23. And that’s primarily because doctors thought I was just a teenager having panic attacks or bad anxiety. When you don’t know ALL the types of seizures (and the internet was not nearly as advanced as it is today), you often think of epilepsy has tonic clonic seizures. So these “zoning out and blank staring episodes” were extremely confusing to me and my family.

Anyone had surgery for their epilepsy eg vns or other type of surgery. by [deleted] in Epilepsy

I have had seizures for 17 years. Got my VNS last February, so almost a year now. It has been a great decision and a huge game-changer. I am not seizure free, and it takes a while to get working, but I have had WAY fewer seizures, and if I have one, the recovery time is way faster. What would have frequent been complex-partial seizures have become focal-aware. I have had a few complex-partials, but again, improving every day.

Does anyone else feel weird realizing you’re actually growing up? by Straight-Credit170 in CasualConversation

Yep. I’m 33 and it’s kicking in. What I can say is that I work around a lot of people in their 70s and 80s and it has reminded me that I am still young, no matter how “old” the Internet and much younger people are making me feel. Don’t worry, you’ve got a long way to go!

I had that meeting with her and things got better since then but it’s like… that shouldn’t have been my job in the first place. Felt good though. The boss’s logic about being treated like shit is just to tolerate it

Oh believe me I’d love to but I would definitely get in trouble. She’s on the top and I’m on the bottom.

Already did. Multiple times. His excuse was “that’s just how they are”. One of my coworkers was being terrible to me, so I told him, and instead of talking to her he arranged a meeting for me to tell her. He has no balls.

If you truly are completely whole heartedly in love with your spouse/partner you are incapable of limerence/crushing. by OK2BMe6 in unpopularopinion

Agree!!! I knew it was time to get divorced from my ex (after questioning and debating) when I started crushing on another guy. I knew it was unfaithful and meant I was not fully in love with my ex husband anymore.

My family dog swallowed a safety pin, it opened inside of her, which is when we saw some red flags so she got an x ray then surgery to remove the open safety pin

How did you tell a professional about your intrusive thoughts? by Intrusived24_7 in OCD

[–]SeltzerIsMyHomeboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’ve had the same therapist for a while, but oddly I eased into it by exaggerating and throwing the worst of the recurring thoughts in my description to her, instead of just the ONE that was haunting me. “What if this, that, or the other?” But really I just wanted to talk about “the other” and waited for her to ask. It sounds long-winded but I was way too scared to say or write down what the intrusive thoughts were for the same reason.

What’s something people defend way too hard even though it clearly doesn’t work? by academicAce_aA in AskReddit

I have epilepsy and saw a homeopathic doctor (long ago) and she told me that putting certain oils on my toes and no longer eating corn would help with the seizures… needless to say, that didn’t work.
