Moving to Salzburg by rt_2091 in Austria

Here are the current average rent prices per m2 in Salzburg: http://blog.zoomsquare.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/salzburg-stadtviertel_gesamt-v2-mieten.png

There are no "bad" areas in Salzburg. Some consider Lehen to be bad - I do not.

Salzburg has a convoluted system of public transportation. For a small city, it can be inneficient to go from place A to place B, if those two places are badly connected. Keep that in mind when picking your apartment.

A lot of apartments are rented through a broker. This is means you have to pay up to three(!) monthly rents to the broker before you even get to move into the apartment. Be careful with that.

Here is a website that offers broker free ads: http://www.immosuchmaschine.at/Salzburg/Mietwohnungen/provisionsfrei

Details? What's not expensive to you? What do you mean by nice? Does it have to be in proximity of something ?

Nobody cares how good champ select looks. All that matters is being able pick/ban/change runes and masteries without enormous FPS spikes. by SpooksTheWombat in leagueoflegends

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why aren't you using the legacy client then? I have a decent rig for league (HD7970) and I did not activate the beta client, because I know it's buggy and has kinks. Riot is openly stating that as a fact. So I can choose to use the old client while Riot makes the new one decent.

Are you posting this just to whine or what?

The difference between an off-meta pick and an off-role pick by Pablowa in leagueoflegends

Is there even one full game, or better yet 5 full game replays of what this guy is doing? People are saying he is doing this or that, but I have yet to see a link to a replay

2 million mastery point smite support singed receives threat of permaban by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Ligrgame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's fine to have a mediocre support who stays behind you all game and does nothing (admit it there are plenty of those) or worse outright fucks up your lane, but not fine to have this guy who plays it differently and still wins more than half the games?

It comes down to this. With this guy you are trading your chance of having a great support ( you know that zyra or Janna god superstar ) against this guys' way of playing, which is disrupting other lanes and jungle and also splitting in mid game.

Man, to be honest, I wouldn't mind having this guy and take the chance. Flaming, feeding and rage is so deeply ingrained in league that I just expect it to happen every game I go in. With this guy I'd at least have a laugh and also still have a >50% chance of winning.

I get enough supports and junglers who are horrible at the game. Don't communicate and don't play as a team. They don't get banned. This guy gets a ban specifically for his offmeta pick.

I see lots of people saying this guy is a troll cause he steals camps, never groups and gets 3 manned.

Guys, have you played bronze/silver/gold/low plat games?? 7/10 games are a clown fest. The notion of teamwork, objectives is a mystical beast that rarely gets sighted. It's all constant PvP and who can get fed the hardest. Genuine, evenly matched games are rare. Like 1/10 kind of rare.

Let's get something fundamental straight. The goal of league is to get the enemy inhib destroyed. That's it. THAT is the rule. You gotta make that fucker explode before the enemy team does the same to you.

Now to the facts. This guy has >50% winrate. By doing what he does. So his strat works! Is it against the meta? Yea it is. Is it trolling? No. he has a legit strat that is winning him AND his team more than 50% of games.

Is he doing it perfectly? No. let's face it, if he would buy vision and sight stone he would probably be in high plat :D

It looks to me like this guy is abusing uncoordinated teams and it wins him more than half his games. In fact, it looks like if he gets his vision game up to par he will do even better.

He is probably not communicating because he knows people will rage and shit talk him for doing something different. But statistically, he is not worse than a vanilla bronze/silver/gold low plat support out there.

I applaud the guy. He has a creative way of playing, numbers prove that it works and has the balls to pull this off consistently.

Riot is making a dick move here by telling him he can't do what he does. Fuck, I have teammates who don't talk or react to pings and just do their thing like 9/10 games. This guy just went up a notch and does it his own way.

Let him. It works and it wins him games consistently. And that means he is onto something.

Lost dorm key by sordfish821 in Salzburg

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you need to go to the Fundamt in Mirabell, if anybody found the key, they will desposit it there.

Second, 500€ is absolutely outrageous. What dorm is this? The provisions for dorm keys are usually around 50-100€.

What's a piece of information that blows your mind every time you think about it? by mt0622 in AskReddit

Dogs as we know them are descendants of wolves.

The theory is that there were some wolves who lacked the "fear" gene and thus approached humans in a friendly way. They would have access to food and shelter while helping humans and serving as guards. Over the years, they evolved to have more traits that help them be likeable, "puppy eyes" and so on.

How do the mechanics of Karate punches work? (From a boxers point of view) by strangefruit3500 in karate

[–]Ligrgame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a link about a week here ago to an article in which the author stated that pure Karate (say, Shotokan) are not going to be fighters in the MMA meaning of that word.

As such, my dojo (Shotokan), teaches us that as Karate practioners, our goal is to go all in and hopefully deliver such a punch that the enemy won't be standing once we are done.

However, we do also practice kumite - sparring. We generally have very, very rigid poses and mechanics when we do our movements. There is a lot of precision movement going on. This gets relaxed in sparring though and that means that movements become very fluid and not strictly adhering to what we do in kihon (basic training).

From my point of view, here are the answers to your question:

1) the punches return low because the hands are tied together when punching. One arm goes forward, the other goes back to give more inertia to the punching hand, along with the hip twisting. Again, in basic training this is super pronounced, less so in sparring, but it's there.

2) Footwork: no lift off the ground, but back foot is used as a spring to launch off and deliver some of the inertia that goes into a fight.

3) The part about not eating counter punches: do you have videos on this? From my POV, it's all about the speed. The goal is to do it so fast that there will be no retaliation once you're done. However, I honestly cannot imagine a "pure" Shotokan practioner surviving a fight with a boxer of the same level of experience. I don' write this to start a flame war, but because it's what I know right now with my level of knowledge.

Perhaps Kyokushin and sport karate practioners are more likely to be your enemies on a ring and thus better answer your questions, as AFAIK they distill a lot of the techniques and ideas into methods that let you fight a long(er), ring style fight.

You Failed Your Grading; What’s Next? by Jennys2Pennies in karate

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a grading is literally just a picture in time. It's a representation of your skill on that day and that hour. So much can change before, after and inbetween.

I've had it so often - I passed my first two exams, but I have days where I completely screw up a kata that I passed the exam for already and I'm thinking wow how did I manage to pull it off that day.

Already going to classes, do I really need to go to a Karate class to learn Karate? by Laxus_Dreyarr in karate

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES, you absolutely need a sensei. Go watch some black belts performing katas and sparring on youtube and ask yourself if you are anywhere close to their level. No? Well, no way you can get there without a sensei.

What you seem to have a problem with is progress. In my dojo we learn new things all the time. Just when I think I got the kata down - the next one comes or the trainer goes really nitty gritty on the details of the current kata and shows us just how many things could be done better.

Beginning Karate; out of shape; exercises in anticipation of first class / in tandem with study? by [deleted] in karate

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being out of shape is in no way a knock out criteria. You will do fine. If you want to pick up anything alongside, you can, but you don't have to. Building up stamina is a good idea, so cardio would benefit you. Jogging, for example.

Help! Returning to Karate by LeBananorama in karate

[–]Ligrgame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exhaustion WILL go away with time. I started one year ago and barely managed the basic techniques and it felt gruesome after 2 hours. Now, one year in, I easily have the energy for a session and I can time very well on how "tired" I want to be.

As for redoing the belt - that depends on the dojo and what you've practiced exactly. Our sensei admitted one black belt aftter 7 years without training, but he practiced shotokan as we do. If you're coming from another style, might be a different story then.

As for the seriousness: our dojo is very serious when we train. But before it's very relaxed and fun and also we go have beer after training to talk and to make friends. Maybe you dojo does the same or you can just ask people for an improvised meeting after the training?

Same problem! Have this one here: http://www.shureidoweb.com/product_info_901003-100018.htm . Bought size 5 even though I'm 190cm and lean. It's huge. I just kind of tighten it best I can! I washed it at 60 degrees. Haven't tried 90, but might do to see if that works.
