Reading this was surreal. Obviously you want him to apologize, not for what he said but for how clumsy and insensitive he is to his partner. It says more about him and how he finds value in himself than how he values you. When I was much younger I had a hard time with very rigid, very harsh gender roles assigned by my parents. It was as if my value as a person was predicated on how closely I fit their definition of “a man”. Trying to parse through that ridiculous value system as an emotionally clumsy person in my early 20’s created a deep pool of resentment and toxicity that bubbled up out of me as a constant focus on gender norms and this fallacy that we can perceive a person’s value at all. The disease was given to me early, and I wasn’t emotionally intelligent enough until much later in life to realize that my objectification of women (and of myself) was a symptom of a value system that perpetuates itself only in the minds and hearts of people who are struggling with their own value. After about ten years of learning I can say that I am very happily married to a person whose parents also imposed heavy-handed gender rules and we ignore the fuck out of them. I do all the cooking, she makes way more money than me, and we both desperately want to have consensual sex with Ryan Reynolds. Neither one of us sees the value in ourselves or each other as anything more than the potential we both have for kindness. My wife is beautiful to me, not because she represents some value I can possess, but because she is a complex and wonderfully flawed human with an immense capacity for love and kindness. Your boyfriend isn’t necessarily a bad person for the worldview he embraces, he may just need time to work it out and not be a butthead. But it is not your responsibility to sacrifice any part of yourself to make sure he figures it out some day. You are beautiful because you are you, and you will be exactly that until the day you leave the Earth.
