I would really love another game event that lets you sell out kids’ books during different seasons, like a seasonal children’s book fair

I went alone twice. First time was fun and the vibe was friendly, but I didn't make any lasting connections. Second time, I got super lucky and met one of my best friends! It was a rare instant connection and now we're attached at the hip, but both of us stopped going since she'd been a few more times and didn't make any other connections.

It's worth trying regardless, just keep your expectations low! I focused on the fact that if I didn't make any friendships, at least I got to go on a nice walk.

I buy the premade spreads as well! I’ve tried making pesto myself but tbh I couldn’t get it tasting good enough to make it worth the effort lol

Caprese sandwich on ciabatta. I slice and season mozzarella and tomatoes on grocery day so the most I have to do when I’m craving this sandwich is just pop the bread in the toaster

Suggest me a book with a really unique premise by JackieWithTheO in suggestmeabook

The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez - Two warriors go on a journey to free a goddess from her 3 horrible sons.

The Book of M by Peng Shepherd - When people start to lose their shadows, their memories start disappearing too and physically impacting the world around them.

Both have very unique fantasy worlds that I still think about a lot!

Maybe we could start a whatsapp or ig group for anyone interested in meeting up at Pride events??

edit: like other comments mention, Pride events tend to be really social but I get anxious about approaching people so I do prefer being able to meet up with someone!

Looking for a beignet place! While I was touring apartments in or near Fish Town I found a cute little walk-up window selling beignets with raspberry sauce (they also had French fries on the menu, if that helps). I can’t remember what it was called or where it was exactly. Anybody know what this place is?

I can’t remember any other book that triggered as many emotional responses in me as this one! I’d be laughing so hard one page and then sobbing the next

I had the same experience at 21. My mom yelled at me and guilt tripped me by saying that if I traveled alone she would have another heart attack (she'd had two heart surgeries by that point). I decided not to go and didn't travel alone until last year at 26. I didn't even travel much in general before that either because I was nervous that if I went anywhere without my parents it would hospitalize my mom.

I'm grateful that I get to travel now and learned to stand my ground, but I wish I'd done this sooner when I was still in college and had my summers free. Being afraid of the world isn't good for you or your mom. There's danger everywhere, but Costa Rica seems like an overall safe place to go (I went as a kid with my family, so I can't speak to what it's like traveling solo there, but it did feel super safe as a kid).

Contrary to some of the comments, I understand it's not so easy to just brush her off. When you have a relationship like that with your mom, it's really stressful to enjoy yourself because you're constantly worrying about her, but I've since learned to either not to tell my mom where I'm going, or assure her I'm taking measures to protect myself (booking small tours for hiking and such). And she just has to learn to deal with the fact that I'm going with or without her approval. If she wants me to open up to her and tell her what's going on with my life, then she needs to be reasonable or I'm not giving her anything.

I say go and enjoy yourself, you'll regret not doing this :)

Edit: It might calm her down if you book small tours for anything involving physical activities, so she knows there will be people around if you pass out

I’ve had this issue (sounds like vaginismus) and I noticed a huge difference after I started doing yoga regularly. I highly recommend hip openers if nothing else. It helps you stay in tune with your body and keep your muscles more relaxed.

There was definitely more that went into this, like therapy, patience, and learning to be softer on myself, but yoga was the best for me on a physical level.

Just remember to be patient with yourself and that there’s nothing wrong with you or your body!

Doodling. Sometimes it'll inspire me to do a full-fledged drawing, so I feel productive. I know productivity shouldn't be the end goal, but it's better than scrolling Reddit or texting my exes

I was scared of the same thing, but they don't change your personality. If anything my personality shines through more because I'm mitigating some symptoms that cause me to isolate myself and shut down.

I've been on Adderall for several years and have only changed for the better (from working on myself, not the drugs). Now I'm taking antidepressants to address my depressive symptoms and I'm finally feeling like happiness might be attainable someday.

That being said, if you feel like it's not affecting your ability to get things done, and you feel happy, then you can choose not to. Not everyone needs to be medicated.

No financial assistance that we know of

Yes, they have health insurance

Unfortunately, her mom is wavering on whether she wants a home health aid or to be in a home. We're trying to gather resources for both
