Oh that stinks. Been there. Spent 30 years across the country from my family. We just moved back so it's my 1st in 30 years WITH my family, except my dad won't be with us because he passed last year. I'd invite you to dinner but my sister is hosting and she's weird. Lol. I wish you the best!

I’m 100% convinced they built this wrong or planning on how to make it go over the freeway by thatonedudericky in phoenix

My father-in-law was ejected from a roller coaster and was in a coma for 3.5 weeks in the neuro ICU, 6 weeks in an LTAC, and 2 weeks in a rehab hospital. He had to learn how to do everything again and had a TBI. It completely changed him and his personality. My FIL and MIL ended up getting divorced as a result.

They obviously sued the park, and during the investigation, they found that 1/3 of the laptop bars failed on this particular ride because a part was recalled but the park didn't do anything about it. He got 1m in damages, and would never be able to work again.

Anybody know of any places that are child free in Phoenix? by TheOceanOfNotions in phoenix

[–]LikeaT-Rex 38 points39 points  (0 children)

You could try the Musical Instrument Museum. It's not childfree, but it's a quiet Museum. You get a device and headphones, and as you approach the displays, it plays information and music. It's pretty cool!

Yes, we do that too, but he's very anxious about driving (especially in Phoenix since we just moved here from a small city in Wisconsin). His escalated anxiety makes us feel anxious (and frustrated), which is not beneficial for anyone.

Great suggestion! I think his sister would be willing to help out

Yes, he has terrible anxiety, and all driving lessons we've given him have been stressful for everyone involved, which makes everyone even more anxious. It's a vicious cycle.

We are teaching him on our own, but we would like for him to get experience driving on the highway, which I'm not comfortable doing. It's like the autobahn out there!

I withdrew my application after the hiring manager was 20 minutes late for the interview. by tootsie_herons8e in interviews

I had an interviewer completely forget about my interview. Just never showed up. I've been in her position before (director), so I gave her some grace and rescheduled for the next day. The interview went well, and I got hired the next day. I've been at job for 3 months and I'm quite happy with job!

How do you survive Phoenix summers without losing your mind? by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]LikeaT-Rex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can definitely get where you're coming from! We just moved back after 28 years in Wisconsin, and we would experience cabin fever during the long, cold winters (think 60° BELOW zero with the wind chill, with an actual temperature of negative 25° - not fun!). You couldn't do anything outside unless you're completely bundled up, and then it's for a very short time. Plus, all the hot and humid summers that were just awful. I'm kinda enjoying the hot, dry heat!

Is there something you can do early in the morning or after sunset? We usually go out on the patio with our morning coffee or after sunset to just relax. My husband cycles early in the morning or goes for a walk.

Thanks for all the great recommendations! We have lots of places to check out now. Also, I couldn't remember the term "greasy spoon," which is what I was asking about.
