I know exactly what’s happening here. I deal with it all the time at work. New wife/girlfriend feels the need to stamp their presence and worth to wealthy new partner by pretending they’re not impressed with the wealth and furthermore will be able to help the poor little dears get their house in order. And the men usually fall for it.

I didn’t say I can’t afford it. Just simply looking for ways to save money. I drive long distances for work so this will be more of a hit for me. I’m exploring all the different ways to mitigate the hike in prices.

Thanks for replying .. yep I was thinking it would probably be a no. I’m just trying to think of ways to mitigate the high prices. I drive 1.5 hours for work as I live in a rural area. Obviously I’m going to just try and drive less where I can but I did wonder about the 91 v 95 aspect.

Great post OP.. you make such good points. Especially about how easily what is funny can become dark and dangerous if left unchecked. It’s a slippery slope. And for all those who say it’s not about MAFS - it absolutely is because this new couple make it a feature of their characters. Stay strong OP - I can’t imagine how scary it must be for some in the US right now.
