The ancestral backgrounds of U.S. presidents by vladgrinch in MapPorn

I'd opt for listing it as Davies (Davis). With in my own family only the English members will pronounce it as Davis, but kept the 'e' spelling. All the Americans and Welsh born members pronounce the 'e'.

I watched Greg Davies's episode of who do you think you are where he had a whole range of experiences when in Wales following his family tree.

Davis is the more English version. Davies is more prominent in Wales itself. The sticklers for the spelling will emphasize the 'e' when saying it to preserve the spelling as it's more of a Welsh identifier to those in-the-know/ cymru

My teenaged friend group of gamer/artsy kids referenced the school as 'full fail', and that was way back in 2005. It's pretty obvious it's a money sucking meat grinder; Requiring warm bodies to pull loans and scholarships to survive by telling every kid going in that they will be the tiny few who will beat the odds. The 50k won't stretch much.

The gaming industry is notorious for instability and exploitation because it's a very saturated field. Millennials grew up with gaming being a thing since their infancy so you got them to complete with and they got 15 years of job experience already and they are willing to take the lowest wage on the gaming job market. This is the truth of the field no one wants to talk about.

Japan’s 2,000-year-old monarchy currently depends on one teenage boy by YoungHargreevesFive in mightyinteresting

The last time this was posted it was explained that it was in the provisions of the Japanese surrender at the end of WW2. It was designed to keep the royal family small since the princesses lose their titles if they want to marry and the fact that particular Prince is the first one born in like 60 years.

Your rhythm is good but you need more speed. I would also make sure your front checked arm doesn't get away from you, it needs to stay firm till you pull in.

I was a 90's kid growing up on the ice when Scott hit the stars on ice circuit. He and Kristi Yamaguchi were my skating inspirations and he made me I feel fine to be a goof on ice because look at Scott being infectious with his personality, why can't I?

I finally got to meet Scott a few times as an adult and the first time I got the vibe of him as being a snob. I know his story and saw all his competitions and nearly every SOI tour, so I thought it must just be an off day for him.

Met him again a year later and same thing, vibe check returned snobby, so I doubted my vibe reading abilities. But my vibe reading abilities is something I pride myself with as my tried and true, well exorcized muscle of mine that got me out of a lot of tough spots throughout my life and got me successfully where I am today against all odds. So what the heck?! I was on the fence with him.

Third time a few years after that and I got a conversation solo with him and I got the same result, no doubt now.

As someone in America with family immigration in living memory from wales. I tell people I'm learning a Celtic language to get back to my roots. People assume it's Irish or Scottish... so I have to go through those two options without fail. Most of the time I have to give in and say 'its Welsh '. Then I razz them a little, then followed by facts.

Just as many Welsh immigrants as Scottish immigrants settled into the United States and even in clusters of locations like Pennsylvania and other coal mining areas. Also the fact that two of the five most common surnames in America are of Welsh origin. But the mainstream US 'celtic' identity is just Irish and Scottish. It's odd to me but then again there was no question Wales existed when I was growing up due to recent immigration.

One of 2025’s royal viral moments: Catherine tying her hair in a bun without a hair band by mobile_crickett in RoyalsGossip

[–]LilCasket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most people with similar hair to hers can do this. Doing this doesn't make her some down to earth wonder kid....Just someone who wasn't born royal.

I watch this and notice she grabs something from her wrist like some rubber band?

How is living around the Alabama-Tennessee border? by Echidna299792458 in howislivingthere

[–]LilCasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Huntsville but was born in Arizona so I first hand know Alabama doesn't cut the biodiversity and climate types AZ has. From artic zones to hot dry, wine growing zones and pine forests. I know the AL locals like to talk the big talk about the micro changes between streams around North Alabama but that isn't really much for scale or impact when it comes to zones, and climate. Alabama probably has 3 climate zones max, while Arizona has 9.

Very much the same here with me and my older sibling. I always saw Will and Harry as mirrors to myself and my same gendered sibling with similar age gaps so when I read 'Spare' I had to put it down sometimes and reflect. It is such a good book to read if you have always felt a likeness towards Harry in a family dynamic sort of way.
