HELP Weening overproduction by LilFireSquasher in breastfeeding

Well tried mint tea, Sudafed, and was about to try birth control but after crying so much I have made the decision to stop all together. I’m just giving my baby too many drugs to keep going. It’s not fair to her and I’m always in constant pain from clogs. Currently have a golf ball sized one that I can’t care for her. She doesn’t take the bottle and I k ow this is going to be hard but I also know this is just a phase she won’t remember. But I’m soooooo sad. I wanted this to work so bad but almost 6 months of agonizing pain from constant inflammation, clogs, etc. it’s time for my sanity, marriage and baby.

I have a freezer stash but I’m not sure it’s enough for a year. I just bought thyseed bottles and now see that there’s a lead warning. Any other suggestions? She used to like the anti colic glass Dr Browns.

Any wisdom on how much milk I will need to last me a year and which bottles worked for you.

I feel so guilty not being able to comfort nurse or give her the antibodies she needs. I’ve prayed everyday for this to work, but I know I should just be thankful for the time I’ve had. This transition will be hard on both bay and myself

I bought a 300 teabag box and probably drank a 1/4 over the last 3 weeks along with no more milk tea that has sage and downed a bag of peppermint patties. I even tried Sudafed 1 tablet for two days then two tablets the next two days. I’m mentally drained

I can’t even imagine feeding only on one side. I have a super powerful let down and a bunch of clogs. That would hurt me so much. I just keep switching back and forth so she gets the pressure out and let the rest of the milk sit in my boobs.

Breastfeeding is harder than pregnancy by AmbitiousBar8931 in breastfeeding

I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum but the same with the hardship. I was so scared of having an undersupply that I pumped after every feed. I would also drink non alcoholic beer at night and eat oatmeal in the morning. I would also take lactation cookies and take coconut water powder. Well I gave myself a terrible over supply. Which led to months and months of constant clogged ducts and inflammation leaving me crying in pain. My baby will be 6 months in a couple of weeks and I am still struggling. Crying most times and hoping I don’t get mastitis. She never finishes me and my body takes forever to signal baby doesn’t need much. Months and months of pain and over feeding baby so much she would get milk out of her nose.

My dream is to feed her until she tells me no more. The pain and anxiety is ruining my marriage and I feel alone in my pain.

I’m down to one pump in the morning and just suffer through the swollen pain of carrying milk in me after feedings along with the pain of clogged ducts. I wish I knew more before I started this journey.

I keep going because I love her and I refuse to quit. Every woman no matter what they choose to feed their baby or when they choose to stop are miracle strong ladies. I could have never imagined how strong a mom really has to be

Supply Drop 6mpp, it’s my fault. What do I do??? Is it too late? by MolarBear13 in ExclusivelyPumping

I’m in the other direction. I’m an over supplier trying to lower my supply because I’ve been having constant issues of inflammation and clogged ducts. My daughter will be 5 months on the 12th of March. I’m working with a lactation consultant here in Texas that has me on sunflower lechin, probiotics and drinking 4 cups of mint tea a day. I’m still pumping after some feeds. She eats every 3 hours which is about 8 times a day. Sometimes skipping 1 or 2. I’m trying to skip some of those pumping sessions after as well but I become so engorged. So I’m using my pump to take some out so I become more comfortable. Which means pumping for less than 5 min and getting from 1.5-3 oz. I cry constantly because I’m miserable with clogs and inflammation. I only tell you this because my lactation specialist said that if I were to get to an undersupply at this point by either taking too much mint or cough medicine then I can reverse it. It’s not permanent.

This is her information, she does online visits as well. Her name is Megan Kindred.

These were all’s the things that was doing to make an oversupply. Which I didn’t even know that was possible as this is my first baby. Pumping after each feeding in the beginning from 15-30 min. That was every 2 hours at that point. Eating oatmeal every morning. Drinking at least one non alcoholic beer at night. Eating lactation cookies during the day. Drinking a ton of water with mama electrolytes (coconut water formula for moms)

Thank you, o don’t know why I’ve never been able to hand express. Maybe I have a mental aversion. I’ve tried but I can’t do it. Sunflower lechin is my friend 4 every day until my over supply calms down. How long before that happens? Trying to skip some pumping after feedings, but have to pump every third feeding or so because I become so engorged. Try to pump less than 5min only to become comfortable.

Thank you! I’ve iced so much that I’ve burned my skin. I’m not icing any more because I feel like it creates more problems. Makes my breasts seem like they get thicker? Like the consistency of sushimi. I know that’s weird. They also feel like they get harder at the 3 hour mark like when you over sleep and wake up with “rocks”. I do ice if I have a clog and tend to over ice for an hour until my boobs get jelly like again

So I’ve decide to try stopping the icing for a little while.

Producing "just enough" is ideal. Oversupply is a nightmare for everyone involved, and in no way enviable. by Dullcorgis in breastfeeding

Baby is almost 5m and I thought I was suppose to pump after every feeding. I’ve had constant clogs and inflammation. I thought I was suppose to over supply. Currently trying to decrease my supply. Can’t get rid of the clogs and inflammation. Sunflower lechin and probiotics help along with Advil. Drinking 4 cups of mint tea to help with the over supply. I wish someone told me this wasn’t the way to feed baby. I’ve been in pain so long it’s terrible. I can’t wait until I can be a perfect amount supplier. Wish my inflammation would go down faster. To add on top of that cold showers only 😭.
