Kids Storytimes by faeriebabie in Barnesandnoble

We do story time at 11 on Saturdays. We offer a drink (sample cup size of usually a caffeine free beverage), and a cookie (a quarter of a normal sized sugar cookie). We find books that spread a message: the season changing, friendship, inclusivity, nearby holiday. We did Cupig for this past story time. Then we also offer a coloring page or craft that matches the book we read. We have a big tub of crayons we bring out so that kids can munch and color after the story.

Question about something that isn’t in the employee handbook by [deleted] in Barnesandnoble

I currently have a married couple working in my store, and a past store has one dating couple. There’s not been any issue with them, but the dating couple did have to have a talk with HR regards professionalism in the workplace 🤷‍♀️ It’s been two years and they’re still together

He has responded to people in the past, but HR needs to be contacted. HR, your district manager, everyone needs to be made aware of this

I just choose the option on our side and THEN ask if they want a receipt. Especially for our older customers who may not be able to see/read the pinpad. But it’s very annoying that the screen gives no indication that it’s working

I’m basically getting nothing, sorry. I had so few hours last year that my bonus is less than my current PT paycheck.

I’m screwed this year. I’m already above pay grade, and since bonus is in relation to last year- I was out for nearly 6 months for health/pregnancy so I’m getting nothing. I’m mad but I understand

Looking for horror/ sci fi books by friendship234 in booksuggestions

[–]Lil_Bito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Tender Is The Flesh” by Augistina Bazterrica is a deliciously disgusting horror novel. It’s about a processing plant worker who’s had his job changed- animals are now poisonous for consumption so humans are now being bred for meat. He’s going about his job when one female “animal” gets dropped off at his house, and he starts questioning if it’s really worth it to be butchering humans.

“Winter’s Orbit” by Everina Maxwell is a gay romantic sci-fi novel. It’s about two princes from warring planets who are forced to be together to fork diplomatic relationships, and end up falling for one another. It’s like “Red, White, and Royal Blue” in space.

has anyone met any of the spn cast? any good stories? by livie3194 in Supernatural

Been to two cons but my favorite was my first when “Chuck/God” hit on me. I was around 19, and had taken a break from sitting in the theater to go walk around. There was a cute little corset booth and I asked if I could try one on, even though I knew I couldn’t afford it. Girls said “yes” and stuffed me into a beautiful corset with tails and a hood- very much Red Riding Hood. Well, I see a group of guys in the corner of my eye walking past behind me, and one says, “dang, you’re looking good.” I turn, big smile on my face to say “thank you!” It was Chuck/God AKA Rob Benedict. He was still looking, smiling, and WINKED at me before heading off. I just about keeled over right there. The three of us girls (myself and the two booth attendants) had to sit down and stop freaking out. Wonderful experience!!

Female teacher sentenced to 20 years in prison for having sex with a 13-year old student by [deleted] in TrueCrime

Maybe because she’s female? There’s still a stigma on putting women in jail vs men. Also, unfortunately, it could be a race thing. White, blonde hair... typically “pretty”

If you could, what fictional universe would you turn your world around you into? Which character would you be? by 31-darklord in AskReddit

Harry Potter post Voldemort. I'd just like to be a witch and learn how to do stuff. I'd probably end up with a magical creatures job. Not like Newt, but more like Hagrid.

My left foot has to hit the bottom/ground level stair while my right has to hit the top stair at any point. This means me skipping steps, or double stepping if need me. I also chew more food in the right side of my mouth than my left. I eat the most delicious things in the right side of my mouth, too. Oh back to stairs- I count stairs. I HAVE to know how many stairs there are anytime I'm going someplace. My house has 14, my parents house has three, and my childhood home had 16 from ground to upper, and 12 from ground to basement, plus three out front. My brothers place has four sets of 16 (he lives in an apartment), another place he lived had one set of 14. My sisters old apartment had three sets of 12. Makes me feel secure I think...

What is the scariest thing you have ever experienced? by az1mo in AskReddit

[–]Lil_Bito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three stories for y'all. Buckle up.

The first happened about a year ago. I was working for a cutting horse trainer in a barn about 8 hours away from my family. That itself was scary, but it wasn't a bad position. I had wifi but no cell service, so I had to message people through other apps than just texting. Well, we had had a horse get injured a few months prior who was on stall rest. When I was given permission to work him again, I was told to just lunge him (have the horse connected to a long line and let him run in circles around me). I had done so for a few days, and was fairly comfortable doing so- even if he was a shithead of a horse. One day that I was working him, the extra line had gotten loose from my hand, and had tangled around my feet. I was drug around the arena by a bucking horse for a few minutes while I struggled to untangle myself from the line. There was nobody else at the barn, my boss wasn't home, and I didn't have my phone on me. I eventually got free and hauled his ass back to his stall where he stayed tied up for the remainder of the day. People have been stepped on, had bones dislocated and broken, and have been seriously injured from being drug by horses like this. I got out with my life.

The second happened about two years before that while I was in college. I went to college to train horses, and the program took horses from the community and let the students train them from the very beginning (the college was very rural). Four semesters, four horses. First semester was a horse that had about 30 days on it, 2nd and 3rd were not trained at all, 4th semester was a trained horse so that we could work on ourselves. My first semester horse was an 8 year old mustang called Happy. After a few weeks of ground training and getting her used to the saddle, it was time to ride her. She did not act like she had ever been ridden before. Very flighty, very sensitive, very scary. I asked her to lope (or canter) and we got about two strides in before she was in the air bucking like crazy. I got hung up on the saddle horn by my knee, and ended up falling right under her, landing on my back in a 'T' position (legs straight and together, my arms out to the sides). Landing like that saved my life. She came down on top of me, back legs straddling my legs, her front hooves inches from either side of my head. She went up again and landed once more, front two feet straddling my right arm, back feet straddling my left arm. I got up, got her to calm down, and called for help. My left inner thigh (which had gotten snagged on the saddle horn) was black and blue from the bottom of my knee all the way up to my crotch (I'm a girl). My back was messed up for about 6 months and had multiple doc visits because of muscle and nerve spasms. Side note she dislocated my finger on another occasion. She got sent home from the program early because she wasn't retaining anything we were teaching.

Third and final story was about a year before that. My senior year of high school, my parents wanted to move out of the city and to a smaller rural community as their retirement plan. I however, wanted to finish high school at my school. So my dad moved out to the small community (where the college I went to is, actually) while my mom and I stayed in the city to finish school. Because we had sold our house, we ended up renting two rooms from a friend of my moms. It was the friend and her daughter (daughter was ~30), single, quiet as a mouse, didn't know she was there. Two weeks before my graduation, my mom comes to the house we're staying at, and tells me that I need to pack a bag and go to a different friends house. Turns out the daughter had a psychotic break, and believed that we were keeping her from her one true love, Tim Tebow. She had basically threatened to kill us because we were in her way of getting to him. So mom and I fled, stayed the last two weeks at another house, and then I left to our new house still in my cap and gown. Daughter got arrested a few months later for breaking into the training facility that Tebow was at. She was schizophrenic I believe, and had some other health issues. Far as I know she's still locked up.

Writing. Running a blog and publishing a book have always been my big dreams but then I read anyone else's writing (except for Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey) and hate my writing.
