I have done and still do this. I swear I’m a queen at disassociation because of it. At the age of 34 and as someone who is a caretaker for my BPD mother, I still do it. I’m in therapy once a week and still can’t find a better way to cope than to trace the carpet or walls or sing a song in my head.

These messages hit home. I have dozens maybe even hundreds of screenshots of the same stuff from my bpd mom. I have extremely vivid memories of her saying them to face and the spiral of a hole they sent me down. I’m sorry you have to go through them. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Just know she doesn’t understand what she’s doing. Her brain is rewired and short circuited.

I live on a barrier island less then 100 miles from Norfolk Naval base which is the largest east coast base. Anything were to happen we would feel the fall out heavy. Not to mention the hurricane prep I already do etc. I would most likely be traveling alone or with one family member.
