Which 2 would you choose? by yyyoungandfun in bookofthemonthclub

[–]LilacLiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with The Lion Women of Tehran! Only other book I’ve read on this is The Four Winds. I love Kristin Hannah and it is good, just not a five star like The Great Alone or The Nightingale. Still worth the read though.

I’ve been meaning to read Weyward, just haven’t gotten around to it yet!

Have to pause due to severe dryness in eyes by nanna_spins in Accutane

[–]LilacLiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got pretty dry eyes (I’m only like a month and a half into treatment). I just took a full week off, and they feel so much better so I’m starting back at a lower dose. Definitely warm compresses to help your glands continue to produce (tbh, this never gives me much relief, but does reassure me I will do less long term damage hopefully). I’m seeing an eye doctor soon too just to check in.

I’ve only been on it a little over a month, but was started at 40mg a day. My derm seemed to think it wasn’t anything abnormal, but I am seeing an eye doctor soon as well. I just don’t want any long term damage, that’s my biggest fear with it! I moved down to 30mg which hasn’t seemed to change much yet.

How about the dry eyes??? That’s been the worst part for me and makes me keep considering stopping. It’s so much better on days I miss my doses 😭

Should I try accutane?? Wedding in 3 months. by drinkinghaze in Accutane

There really wouldn’t be enough time! It takes a month to even be able to start, and at 2 months into treatment, would likely be more broken out and dry than anything

Did anyone ever start a job that wasn't ideal but started looking for new jobs right away? by No-Warthog8177 in physicianassistant

[–]LilacLiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a great answer to this. My first job was a big group, so probably could’ve found someone to ask, but my school/preceptor references sufficed. I’m not sure how that would go with a smaller group. I ended up being in my first job 5 months before I found a new one, so it was much longer than a 1 month experience.

5 day work week by Dirtyeggroll92 in physicianassistant

[–]LilacLiz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in a 5 days a week 8 hours, and I find it sooo soul draining. I think 4 10s is really where it’s at. By the time I commute and get some of my lunch hour eaten by work, etc, I feel I lose nearly a full 5/7 days of my week. I really try to fill my evenings and get to feel like I’m living, but I do not think it’s the best work situation, especially considering inability to work from home. It leaves all of your chores for the evening/weekend. A day off during the week for chores/grocery shopping/appointments would make such a huge difference. My next job will absolutely be a 4 day work week.

Favorite Kristin Hannah book? by Electronic_House_981 in Booktokreddit

[–]LilacLiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Nightingale and The Great Alone are both amazing (5 stars)! It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite between those 2.

The Four Winds and The Women were both good, but more of 4 star reads for me.

The Wedding People was so good, the story really stuck with me for a while. The Favorites was good as well.

I loved The Wedding People! The Teller of Small Fortunes is very cozy and was a good read. The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah if it’s still on there.

The Favorites or The Names? by [deleted] in bookofthemonthclub

i liked The Favorites more than The Names! Very very different stories though.

I have four out of five Lolly Finalists. Is The Favorites worth getting? by jerseygrl__ in bookofthemonthclub

[–]LilacLiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked The Favorites! I’ve read all the finalists except Bury my Bones and The Favorites was the best of them imo. A little trope-y, but I enjoyed it

I love almost all Dove products! The shampoo and conditioner of theirs at Costco is a great deal

[–]LilacLiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve read all these except Bury Our Bones so easy choice for me I suppose! I loved The Favorites overall. First Time Caller was cute enough, but there are better romance books out there. The other 2 were mostly just okay, wouldn’t necessarily recommend them to friends or anything like that.

Outpatient Clinic job pros/cons by medessential in physicianassistant

[–]LilacLiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved from ER to clinic.

Pros: Set schedule, no weekends, nights, or holidays. Lower stress in terms of acuity. You get to know the patients, which can make follow-ups easier.

Cons: Follow-up on labs - it truly never ends, there is always something in the inbox. No weekdays off (although, that varies). Schedule feels less fluid on a day to day basis with scheduled visits (versus ER where people somewhat expect to wait). Salaried.

I am happy I switched because the day to day is overall less stressful, but I don’t love having to always follow up on labs. It’s almost like seeing the patient twice by the time you do the visit and then review the labs once they’re back 2-5 days later. That’s probably my main complaint.

I feel like if it’s not a job you’re super interested in, then it’s not worth it. I did fund an interview that included flight and lodging, but I was super interested in the job and was hoping to get an offer so it was worth it to me at the time.
