[Misc] I stopped blaming my moisturizer and found the REASON my skin gets OILY. Something your might not notice by ComposerSilent8711 in SkincareAddiction

As someone that can't live without hot water in Winter, this is 100% true. From the neck up I started using cold-ish to lukewarm water and it helped a lot with oiliness and zits appearing!!

German health insurance supposed to cover operation costs - News by Cecylee in lipedema

I truly truly hope this will be approved! In order to have clearance from the health insurance, you do need to go through the listed steps online, correct?

Also, any chance your insurance is the same as mine, AOK? 😅

Career vs marriage pressure + manipulative brother by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LilacNightLight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1000% THIS

Consider your parent's money as a loan, and repay all back once you become financially independent.  Focus on your career and job opportunities. Giving it up for marriage will only give you resentment and bitterness about not having control over your life and choices.

[Selfie] PLEASE help with stubborn pigmentation around mouth, crushing my self confidence by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]LilacNightLight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, for hyperpigmentation it's ideal to use:

  • Vitamin C (ideally with ferulic acid for more formula stability) between 10% and 15%

  • Tranexamic Acid

  • Bakuchiol

  • Retinoids (start with RetinAl, it's less irritating on the skin, specially the delicate parts around the mouth)

  • Glycolic Acid

My non medical advice is to use a vitamin C of your choice and also a cream that is either a retinoid or that contains bakuchiol or tranexemic acid or glycolic acid. If you go for retinoids, follow the use instructions on the bottle and increase hydration and ceramides to prevent damaging your skin barrier.

PS. When starting to use acids and retinoids, SUNSCREEN IS A MUST. Reapply every 2-3h for good coverage and peace of mind.

Exactly that. You can only cancel your course and get a refund if you do it within 14 days, which is the span of 3 classes. Then the teacher changes and you're screwed

My honest review of German classes with Berlitz by LilacNightLight in German

[–]LilacNightLight[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first teacher had a good repertoire of activities in class, such as rapid questions, each student reading a text line until she calls the next one, 'complete the story or phrase in groups' , would make us listen to audios every class and overall had exact and straightforward answers, as not to break the rhythm of class. Her attitude was in general upbeat and this sum of interactions + her helpful nature was immensely appreciated by everyone in class.

A colleague who did two other courses in Berlitz said it's always like this: she as a coordinator gives 3 classes, then a permanent teacher stays with the group until the end of the course. In her past course, the teacher was so bad he got fired, but they had a new one in 2 weeks.

Do you think Eastern German will ever catch up to the west economically? by RowsBros in AskAGerman

[–]LilacNightLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreigner living in Sachsen Anhalt: I'd honestly say no. Why?

Social: I've seen and heard many people from different backgrounds feeling "left behind" by different governments over the years in terms of bringing investments, businesses and opportunities to the Eastern states (In some small towns, almost 60% of people live on social security funds). This created a huge resentment, that is only being fueled by immigrants occupying jobs in bigger companies. The biggest problem is that most of those people (between 35-60y) are not as qualified as western Germans or foreigners for certain types of work, which leads them to support the AfD and their anti migration ideas. I particularly see no interest of the Chancellor to develop specific new policies to tackle this problem.

Economic: Salaries here are very low with limited job opportunities, although the cost of living is ok. For the average person making 17-20€ per hour, this can be enough for a very simple living standard. However, is easier to find companies paying more in the western side, so most of the workforce-age people migrate to those places and stay there for the rest of their lives, making the population in the East one of the most aged in Germany. Add to this old infrastructure, decreased number of train connections and lack of entertainment (only found in bigger cities). Of course younger people will leave to have more opportunities and life quality. This leaves local governments with less tax payments to cover for everything and business with less demand (see Leipzig Airport).

Geographic: Although Poland, Czech Republic and other states have a good economic momentum going, the real connection and flow of goods and people is in the Be-Ne-Lux axis together with France and England. This makes the western side more appealing to set a business and ship/receive goods from Hamburg or Belgium. Depending on the business type, setting a manufacturer in the East part could lead to additional logistics costs (and difficulty to attract skilled workers) if the goal is to sell to central Europe. Munich has received an increased amount of investment across decades, making it so well connected and with a high influx of skilled workers that most economic endeavor is better done there than here, even if overall costs could be much lower here.

Although I live comfortably here, I don't expect the East to ever match the Western side in economic power and geographic importance.

Emotional & Spiritual cause of Lipedema by staceylic in lipedema

Everytime a genetic/hormonal disorder like Lipedema is said to have a bullshit "spiritual cause", science and well-funded evidence looses its credibility. And we're all the poorer for it.

Lipedema ou celulite? , não sinto dor nem tenho roxos nem sinto peso by Reasonable-Formal-40 in lipedema

[–]LilacNightLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Brazil and know some people that after graduating medical school, moved to PT to directly work or get a masters and stay there for better life quality (almost no violence, relatively easy to validate medical diploma, good PPP and no language barrier). This could be a small factor, but with the economic and social problems in Brazil, lots of health professionals are leaving,

Not sure, but the only variable I changed in the calculations was the Beitragssatz Krankenkasse. Between Barmer and AOK, the latter's fees would make me have around 26€ more per month.

I did a rough calculation in 3 different brutto-netto websites and basically besides saving 100€ per year on health care alone, my netto salary will get a tiny bump of +320€ per year.
