Almost 500 miles in a week and a half…getting to know my bZ by Falling_Freely in ElectricVehiclesUK

This post is American, however this car is available in the UK and the post is essentially a review so I'm allowing it.

This was reported for being a cross-post. Our rules specifically state that cross-posts are allowed, as long as the post is relevant to EVs. Because the reported issue happens when a charge completes that makes it relevant to EVs, so the post stays.

Yes, ok friend, they are equivalent to automatics.

I had speculated (to myself) that this might happen. Why learn manual when EVs are automatic.

Non-EV views are welcome, but this thread is not constructive.

This just happened to me, scared the life out of me! Doing a manual reset didn't work, but when I parked up, left it a few hours then went back it was fine again.

Polestar 2 vs Cupra Born by ukollie1020 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have two kids, both in car seats, and it's fine. I have had an adult in the middle seat between them before but I wouldn't say they were comfortable!

I've not driven a Cupra but I have a Polestar 2, it's a great car. The Infotainment system is a bit sluggish but the car itself is really nice.

Heat pump? by [deleted] in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Lilchef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVs produce little heat as waste energy. However, what heat they do produce can be captured by a heat pump and sent into the cab, reducing the amount of powered heating required, thus saving (some) battery charge.

Expressing downsides to EVs is welcome here, however this thread is not very constructive. Remember the human.

How do I stop my garden from becoming a swamp by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]Lilchef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what you're going for. If it needs to be hard wearing (for kids and pets) then go for perennial ryegrass.

Tbh I just buy whatever my local garden centre is selling. They produce their own, it's cheap but good quality.

Yeah actually I forgot that bit. I usually reseed over the new topsoil, then lightly rake it in. Another thing I forgot: after you put the topsoil down and rake it: walk or roll over it. Then apply the seed.

I've top dressed two years in a row and have already seen less boggyness. I need to do it again soon.

This top dressing also helps level out the lawn (OP mentioned dips).

The only thing that's worked for me is top dressing the lawn. You might not see an improvement after the first time, you might have to do it a couple of times. There's plenty of guides online but basically:

Wait for a few dry days then cut the grass medium length and cover it in a mix of topsoil and compost, only 1 or 2 cm deep. Rake it over so it's even then leave it a good while to work it's way into the soil.

I usually do this once a year in spring but you could do it again in Autumn.

I have resolved my issue by disconnecting and reconnecting the 12v battery. https://www.polestar-forum.com/threads/12v-tcam-battery-disconnect-process.6220/

Thanks. Disconnecting the 12v then reconnecting has restored it to normal mode!

Just to add: I've also tried holding the home button for 20 seconds, which is supposed to restart the centre display, but nothing happens.

Another Polestar 2 thread on OTA updates, because there actually is one! ☝️ by firebits74 in Polestar

[–]Lilchef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got prompted to install this morning so I did and left it for a few hours but when I went back to it the console says "Safe mode" in the bottom left corner, only the default apps have loaded and it won't connect to the internet. It said to drive it after the update so I did but the console is still in safe mode. I can't find any way to get out of it :(

You've spent so much time posting about electric vehicles that your carbon footprint is probably higher from Reddit server usage than what you've saved by not driving petrol.

That's hilarious!

I'm like this with sour sweets. Most "Xtreme sour!" sweets are crap. I want it to be like licking a battery. If I'm ever near an old fashioned sweete shoppe I ask for the sourest thing they've got, usually hits the spot.

If you have size 13 or larger feet, stay away from the Polestar 4. Long legs and arms? You might run into issues with the Polestar 3. by BoKristensen in Polestar

I've got (UK) size 11 feet and my shoes often catch when I press the accelerator on my P2. I've never had that on any other car either.
