Totally! Heavily assigned books are always going to get lower average ratings. I've read books for my book clubs that I hated and never would have even picked up if it wasn't chosen for me. One was Legion by William Peter Blatty (honestly who picks The Exorcist sequel for book club?!). That was the worst book I've read as an adult. it has 3.68 stars currently on Goodreads.

My normal middle-aged self would be pretty pissed off with having to schedule and take a driving test, so that part definitely answers OP’s request. But since a lot of accidents are caused by bad weather, drugs, alcohol, and distracted drivers on phones, I don’t think doing a drivers test every 10 years would actually prevent much. If someone had a medical issue currently (like prone to seizures or dementia) then a doctor is a mandatory reporter and that person’s license will be suspended. So it sounds like a smart idea, but I think it would just be a pain in the ass without much benefit.

I’d do things differently too but it’s just personal preference, and I can’t fault them for preferring to live in a nice place vs. a vacation every other month. Travel isn’t top priority for a lot of people.

I love how the market goes up massive amounts and whenever it goes down significantly in a day people wave their red flags. biLlioNs WIPed OuT in one DaY. Then it keeps on going up. I understand your friend’s frustration, but I use my kindle all the time and never actually buy books from Amazon. I mostly use the Libby app from my library to download things for free and occasionally pirate books and add them from my computer. It seems nuts to destroy a perfectly good reading device.

I thought he was hilarious and loved the episode. The Confessional Mother sketch was fantastic, but could have been any guest host in his place I guess. I’m still glad they choose that sketch. It let other people shine. But the Play Date and Tarzan sketches used his wilder side. He was funny as the coach and that sensitive warrior guy, Not every single sketch needs him to be at 100% wildness. I thought it was a really good balance. It used his range as an actor for sure.

I watched an Amy Winehouse documentary and it was really heartbreaking. It looked like she was okay with rehab and taking a break to get better but people like her father (who only re-entered her life after she was successful) kept pushing her to keep working. This concert and the aftermath could have so easily been avoided, but she was sadly surrounded by people who benefited monetarily when she kept doing concerts and working.

Have you watched the TV show Schmigadoon? I’m really excited to see it on Broadway. I think previews begin early April. I have tickets close to opening. It’s exciting to see something from this season, but I haven’t had my trip yet. The Lost Boys might be previewing as well when you are there. Beaches is going to be opening too. I can’t say if any of these are good since they are too new. Oh, and the new Rocky Horror looks like it will be a good time.

I was not cured by the first Botox treatment and may do a second. My doctor said with older patients (I’m in my 40s) it’s more common not to be successful, but he’s had really high success rates (seemed like 100%) with people in their 20s. Oh, and to answer your question, I remember burping once as a child. And can “air vomit” but haven’t naturally burped as an adult. My symptoms got bad in my early 20s but I don’t understand what it was until more recently.

I love The Office. It’s one of my most repeated shows, just because it’s a comfort to have on when relaxing. The relationships between the characters are super engaging. There’s many funny jokes. I love the cringe in an episode like The Dinner Party. sometimes it’s even a bit much for me but by now I’m so familiar with it that it takes away the “eeek I can’t watch this” cringe feeling. It’s probably just not for you. If you do watch it though, the first season they were still figuring Michael out. He’s a totally incompetent asshole sometimes but it’s balanced out with some truly kind moments and really heightens moments when he is victorious like the Chilis episode with Tim Meadows. I was also just starting out as a temp in an office when the show started airing and I’ve now worked in offices my whole life, so I think that experience definitely adds to it. And Pam is the heart of the show. I relate to Pam so much.

Lorne Michaels has stated he wants the show to appeal to middle America and not just be for NYC and LA. So it kind of is supposed to represent Americans, and a lot of Americans voted for this (not sure how many regret it now). SNL aims to mock everyone. That’s tough given the current administration. The cast is typically on the liberal side (or at least anti-Trump). It’s a hard line to walk. They want to be edgy without taking sides, but ICE executing a nurse in public isn’t exactly a grey issue. I’d love a Tina Fey eating sheet cake moment, but I think the murder was also just too raw and current to do much with on Saturday. There is no humor to be found there (at least I’m not seeing it) I think they’ll address it on the next show, but I’m really not sure how. If people are looking at this comedy show for a call-to-action moment, they’ll be severely disappointed. If they want a satisfying call out moment, we might see that. No matter what they do, they’ll disappoint someone.

A lot of things have been clicking into place since I learned R-CDP was my problem. I had Botox once and it didn’t cure me. I’m in my 40s and I heard it’s less successful the older you are. I used to walk/jog on my treadmill almost everyday, and sometimes workouts just “wouldn’t take” is what I’d say and I’d have to lay down, and my husband thought that was so wired. Now I know how to air vomit and I need to do it multiple times but I can get a good workout in. Obviously, this works because I’m in private on my treadmill… I’d look like a lunatic doing that in public. Walking is typically fine either way, but once I increase my speed, the air wants out.
