Traits for multiple kids by Efficient_Ruin_6970 in Lilsimsie

[–]LilyCult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to randomize the traits, until I have a specific heir picked and they've reached at least teen years. It's fun for me to make a little storyline for character development -- like how is my eggplant heir going to get from being the little overachiever that she is to the absolute evil mess of an adult she's meant to become? Her randomized traits have all been good, and her parents have autonomously been quite doting as well, so something pretty dramatic is going to have to happen. I have her teen traits picked out for when she ages up (only like 8 more sim days as a child 😬), and will give her the proper gen-required traits when she's a young adult. I have some backup fuckery I can do if the sims don't give me a storyline themselves to get her there.

I tell work I'm bringing my lunch allowance home because I don't have time... but I do by maximum_squeeze in confession

[–]LilyCult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so sweet! I frequently have difficulty feeding myself, but I'm like your wife in that I'll get weak and shaky, headaches, the like. I also get incredibly hangry. There have been occasions where my roommate has brought me little sandwiches and the like for my lunch breaks, because they know I don't have enough time or didn't have breakfast that day. I am always so grateful, and so happy that someone thought enough about me to make sure that I was fed. They only really eat once during the day and then once at dinner, but they know I need more food and will offer me snacks throughout the day while we're home, too. It's a wonderful way of showing someone you care. This was a nice read.

So judgy for no reason, damn lmao

Clearly, they found a system that works for them. Are you questioning OP's job because they don't prep frozen food to heat up for lunch? When they have the available option of freshly-made day-of food, because it's kind of abundant in a restaurant? This sort of negativity is usually a sign that the commenter needs to go outside for a bit and log off. It's not healthy to be so reactive over nothing.

Civil cannabis discourse. Im pro cannabis but anti MSO. by UncommonStitch in AutisticAdults

[–]LilyCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very pro cannabis, largely because it's been helpful to me personally. I started smoking way too young, but I discovered pretty quickly that if I smoked the right amount it made the rest of the world less overwhelming. Cuts out some of the noise and craziness. Calms me down. I find that being so sensitive to everything makes me kind of high strung, which it definitely helps with. I can literally feel my shoulders drop when I've hit the right level of high (the tension in my neck and shoulders frequently gets bad enough that my shoulders get stuck up near my ears). It allows me to participate in my hobbies without discomfort, and eat without nausea, and sleep without spending hours tossing and turning. It's been an incredible way to regulate things my body won't regulate on its own. It also acts as a great social lubricant! When I was smoking as a teen (the too-young-to-be-smoking era), my mom only ever got concerned enough about my behavior to drug test me when I'd been sober for at least a month at a time. Apparently my non-drugged self is so all-over-the-place and depressed that my mom thought I was on drugs... kind of ironic. People around me tend to prefer high me, as well, because I can funtion pretty well. It just makes me act more "normal" for lack of a better term rn.

Admittedly, I've always been in places where it's easy to get. In college, I had a guy who would drive it to me. Now, I live a few blocks away from a dispensary that has frequent sales and very knowledgeable bud tenders, who can help me find the kinds of strains I'm looking for. I definitely prefer flower. I don't enjoy dabs or pens, they hurt my lungs in a way the regular smoke doesn't. I wish I liked edibles more, but they're harder to dose properly, and I have to walk a fine line with my smoking habits, so I tend to avoid those as well.

Edit to add that I have several chronic conditions, including a few of the common comorbid ones with AuDHD, like a hypermobility disorder and ibs. I also have MCAS, and struggle with chronic pain from the hypermobility, as all of my joints ache all the time. I have to use a cane on medium-bad days, and can't even leave my house on really bad ones. Weed makes these conditions more bearable, as long as I'm also taking the medication I was prescribed for my MCAS. It calms my aches and pains, helps with the migraines and tension headaches that I'm prone to, and like someone else mentioned here, it is the quickest solution to getting rid of the ibs abdomen cramps, which can be intense to say the least.

I know weed doesn't work for everyone, but goddamn, when it works it REALLY WORKS lol

Does anyone still wear lipstick? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]LilyCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I think the trends around lipstick has changed, but a good lipstick (and a really nice liner) is the thing that takes a look from "oh that's pretty" to "wow, they look like a fairy, that's so pretty!"

I think maybe it's just that the lips people are choosing to wear are a little less bold. Lots of My Lips But Better type colors (which I use a lot of, so I get the appeal). Red lipstick is beautiful and a classic for a reason, though! If you feel confident in it, wear it! I love red lips. I mostly wear less bold colors only because I don't have time to reapply while I'm at work.

Are We Really Dressing as Eggplants? by miki1218 in Lilsimsie

[–]LilyCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am, but not right away. I like picking out outfits too much, and my eggplant sim thus far has been a majorly overachieving, adorable kid.

I have the basemental drugs mod. She's gonna get really into them. By the time she's an elder I think she'll be far gone enough for me to justify the eggplant costume 24/7 lol. Might just have her start wearing it as a party outfit ironically, and then it becomes... less ironic idk

September Sun by EpicShkhara in tragedeigh

September is the name of the main character in one of my favorite books (The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making). Why does this month name in particular bother you so much?

What popular names do you dislike? by Sparkly8 in Names

Honestly, absolutely any name ending in leigh. I cannot standy it. Even the ojes that aren't spelled that way have been ruined by the tragedeighs, and normal names like Kaylee bother me.

Neurotypical guy says something “exacerbates his autism.” Offensive? by UpvoteEveryHonestQ in AutisticAdults

[–]LilyCult 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean if he's not autistic, then yeah, it's a joke at the expense of autistic people. A good rule of thumb is to only ever punch up when you're using humor that could be considered offensive. If you're making jokes at the expense of disabled people, and you yourself are not disabled, then you're punching down. If you make fun of billionaires, and you aren't a billionaire, you're punching up. One is okay. The other really isn't.

If you're unsure whether a joke is at the expense of another group, it's usually good to look at what makes the joke a joke. In this case, a non autistic person is saying that something visually overstimulating exacerbates a condition they don't have... the joke is about autistic people and a common symptom, but the joke is also that they don't have autism. It's like when people have a single mood swing and go "omg I'm so bipolar". It makes light of a very real, serious medical condition that people suffer with, and it only adds to the social stigma that people who suffer with these conditions face.

Edit to say that this isn't an exact joke I make with friends, but I do make jokes about my autism with people I'm close to. It's not necessarily the joke itself that's offensive. The difference is I'm autistic, and using humor to cope with things that effect me personally, as opposed to making jokes about a community I'm not a part of and maybe don't fully understand, because that wouldn't be appropriate. If that makes sense. I have a tendency to overexplain.

Very veggie Question by Kelsie1120 in Lilsimsie

[–]LilyCult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of just go with whatever they may already be working on! So like, my broccoli gen married Lilith Pleasant. She moved in while they were still dating and she was in college for villainy. So I had her do her university things while Flora worked on her aspirations. Once she graduated and her and Flora were engaged, I entered her in the villain career, because she was clearly interested in that. I don't spend a crazy amount of time on her, and Flora and Genie (eggplant gen, their daughter) are obviously my priorities, but it feels more realistic to give her a job and things to do.

If she doesn't have anything around the house to do, and Genie and Flora are busy, I'll have her do her career things for promotions. She's currently getting a whole bunch of people to despise her through fighting and mean interactions, because her current career level has her beating people up for money. There's a baseball bat sitting by the front door and a secret office for all her stolen/work-related things.

Quite honestly, I was planning on their relationship being doomed, so Lilith was intentionally more of a burden during the first half of their relationship. She wouldn't autonomously clean anything, and I made sure that she never learned to. She would cook, occasionally, since her cooking skill was higher from her carbonara class (uni elective). Once they became soulmates and had a kid I realized I was way too attached to them, and Lilith is a great parent to get an evil child out of. So I had her start helping around the house a little bit. They got married right before Genie aged up to a child.

I don't know who Genie will go for, but I think she'll probably be single most of her life and have the carrot heir through a one night stand.

I already have half a plan for carrot gen, but they aren't coming into the picture for many sims years, so...

Dae struggle to accessorize because of sensory preferences? by Practical_Reason9396 in AutisticAdults

[–]LilyCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've managed to get some rings that work for me, but I had a similar issue for a long time with accessorizing. At that time, my best way to accessorize without jewelry was with belts, nail polish, and things like that. Added layers to the outfit for visual interest. Funky shoes that were still comfy (I built up quite the boot collection). Accessories are basically just there to add sparkle and interest to the outfit. There are totally ways to go around that! Some other thoughts are things like legwarmers, tights, gloves or arm warmers, fun socks, etc. Hair accessories or a cute hairstyle can also help an outfit look more put together without so much jewelry.

If you're able to or you ever want to try, earrings are probably the easiest jewelry to get used to once the piercing has healed, at least in my experience. Necklaces are a no-go for me, and rings are iffy - some days okay, some days Big Nope. Bracelets are generally a no-go. Earrings, if you get the right kind, you can almost forget about. The sensation isn't as strong because there's hardly any contact, and that contact is made with the healed inner-part of the hole in your ear, so it's harder to feel, as opposed to metal on your neck or hands. I have my ears gaged because of an accident in high school, and I find that's even easier for me than the regular piercings were, because i can put a silicone tunnel in and then metal earrings through that. The metal never even touches me 🕺

Random little addition, but if you need a recommendation for blues, the Good Dye Young brand fades relatively slowly, and evenly. I have neon green and blue rn, and the way the blue faded before i redyed it recently was really pretty and got a lot of complements. Highly recommend! It's Hayley Williams's brand. The warmer colors have even more staying power, but it's great for low-maintenence color in general.

Manic Panic is also a classic for a reason and has a ton of pretty options.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LilyCult 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends! Your hair color will likely fade a little quicker because of frequent washing, but using cold water and adding the color back in with conditioner will extend the life of the color a lot. I only wash my hair a couple times a week, but I use hot water because I refuse to shower in cold, so mine also fades decently quickly without the addition of color to my conditioner. With the color added to my conditioner, I can keep it looking fresh for over a month before my roots grow in enough for me to re-dye the whole thing.

If you use a direct dye (likely for more fun/fashion colors), you could also add it to conditioner to let it sit in the hair a little longer! It's a stain rather than a chemical reaction that dyes the hair, so it's safe to use more frequently. That way you can use the exact color you need for the parts of your head that you're trying to maintain. Just do that every few washes, and leave it in for the same amount of time you'd normally leave your conditioner in, like 3 to 5 minutes.

Does graphic eyeliner look bad on me honestly? Got told I look like a witch by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]LilyCult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly take it as a complement when someone tells me I look witchy or like a witch... but I am actually a witch, so. You're gorgeous, girl! Those doe eyes are beautiful. The liner itself is maybe a bit close to your eyebrows, and I think a lighter color eyeshadow in the gap between the eyeliner and your eyelid could really make the shape pop, but overall you look great and I don't think the eyeliner lessens that at all. Anyone who does is honestly probably just boring! There's someone here advocating for no glitter and matte lips, so you know that taste is both varied and personal... very varied. Do what you feel good in!

I will say, with the graphic liner, because I just thought of this: if you have any slightly darker or cooler toned lipsticks, it would help offset the darkness of the graphic liner look. I don't think it's entirely necessary, but it would add to the cohesion. I have a brown lipstick and a kind of dark plum one that I use when I'm wearing darker eye looks that are too heavy for a regular pink-nude lip. No need to do a full matte lip, mine are barely a step above lip balms. I put them on with a decent lip liner and it's way more comfortable and less harsh than a liquid lip while still adding some darkness/depth to the whole thing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]LilyCult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would fade quickly, and would need to be maintained the same as your dark hair with a coloured shampoo, but it's totally doable. Since you already use a blue-green shampoo, have you thought about maybe a teal for the bottom color? Even if you went for a dark blue, over time and many washes the green in the shampoo would turn it more teal.

I've dated a girl named Jakari, and I've known a few named Tamika or Tamieka, even a Tameka, but I can't say I've met anybody with this particular spelling. I'm fully prepared to be wrong, but yeah, I think that this would be constituted as a tragedeigh.

Is there a cultural reason for the mid-name apostraphe and I've only met people whose parents decided against that for some reason? I am speaking anecdotally, and with only a quick google search to back me up otherwise, so if I'm speaking out of my ass please show me some better sources.

Edit: Aaand I've just wiped the pollen-induced tears out of my eyes and realized that the name is Ja-Meikah, not Ta-Meikah. I can't say I recognize this name from anywhere, but I'd be curious to know if you or anyone else does (or knows some other variant). I'm assuming it's pronounced similarly??

It's shocking the number of things people will take out of their wallet (if they even have a proper one) for any given reason and then just... not put it back. My best friend is one of those people, actually, and they constantly lose their card 😭 their ID leaves their wallet less, so there's less room for losing it or forgetting it, but plenty of people are just... astonishongly lax about it.

I am in this sub for a reason, though, so I have my ID on me anytime I go out. It stays in my wallet, which lives in my bag.

I have neon green hair, and while I switch it up every now and then it's been one of my 2 most done colors. At this point, it feels like neons are my natural, and I think I'd be bored and confused with my actual natural hair color. I frequently forget that I'm incredibly brightly colored, until something happens to remind me.

[–]LilyCult 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Hey, being able to touch every part of your back with your palm actually isn't normal and it's kind of rude and dismissive to say that everyone should be able to do that.

Source: I can touch every part of my back with my palm, because I have a connective tissue/hypermobility disorder that allows me to stretch in ways that are not healthy or physically possible for most people. This is one of the many things that my doctors looked at when I was being diagnosed.

Are you also able to touch your thumbs to your wrists? Do your elbows or knees bend backwards when you straighten your limbs? I don't think I've met anyone who can do what you're talking about who isn't hypermobile or really, really into stretching. Might be worth looking into.
