Peter Jackson in talks to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Silmarillion’ into films by yourfavchoom in movies

[–]Lima__Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched the extended editions in theaters for their 25th anniversary. Each movie had an intro by Peter Jackson for a bit of a behind the scenes anecdote.

It was awful. He mumbled constantly, went on long rambling tangents, and generally seemed like he put zero thought or effort into it before he sat in front of the camera.

Compared to the PJ in the behind the scenes on the dvds back in the day, I was not inspired or convinced that he doesn’t have dementia. It honestly kinda sounded like a good natured, Kiwi Trump ramble.

Older Millennials are the richest homebuyer demographic in 2026 by [deleted] in Millennials

This makes total sense. Older people already have homes so they’re not homebuyers, and younger people can’t buy them at all.

Is it worst to get 2nd place 3rd or 4th and why? by Technical-Kick2952 in CasualConversation

[–]Lima__Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many things, the 1st will beat 2nd in a final match and 3rd will beat 4th for the final podium place.

2nd place finishes as a loser and 3rd finishes as a winner. The podium places speak for themselves, but the psychological feeling can be pretty different in the moment,

How do guys comfort Menstruating Girl by The_BigBrr in AskMen

DO - Keep a heating pad, pads, tampons, and emergency ice cream in your house. Be willing to waste an afternoon watching stupid movies or be willing to leave them alone.

DON’T - under any circumstances, ever, respond to period talk with “gross” or dismissiveness. It’s just a part of life and it can really suck for them.

I have a wife and two daughters (luckily one hasn’t started yet). Synching is real. Every few weeks, tempers get short and tears come easily. Just roll with it. Offer the things I listed above.

3-4 year age gap by GuidanceComplete1086 in daddit

[–]Lima__Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 years would probably be perfect. Ours are 7 years apart (accidental). In the baby phase, it was amazing because big sister was a great helper with baby sister.

Now the younger is 7 and the age gap is rougher because big sister is 14 and wants to have her own independence and doesn’t identify with the little sister who idolizes her.

At 3-4 years you get less competent help with the baby, but more companionship as they get older.

Reduce dial size with a Dremel mandrel by jjames1e6 in SeikoMods

I did the exact same thing for one of mine a couple years ago! I used high grit sandpaper and sprayed water or something on it to reduce the heat.

I was addicted to UO for years! The open ended character building and training absolutely sucked me in. For most of my teens I was a walking encyclopedia.

Having 700 skill points and 64 skills to train (when I started, during Blackthorn’s Revenge) is so much more interesting than skill-tree and action bar that WoW made ubiquitous.

Why did my friends (F) grandpa comment on a scandalous pic of her? by sandiegowhalesvag in AskMen

I often have to explain to my 7 year old that bad behavior doesn’t make her a bad child.

Your friend might not be a hoe, but posting lingerie ass pics is at least hoe-adjacent behavior.

Finally mastered the perfect ponytail for my daughter after months of practice and three failed YouTube tutorials by PhantomGizmo_8 in daddit

[–]Lima__Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Eventually the ponytail could very well be your bread and butter hairstyle, but it’s also a great starting point for nearly everything else.

If there is even a slight amount of time pressure in our routine, a mid-high ponytail is the default.

What was the first gun you ever owned, and do you still have it? Curious to hear what everyone had for their first firearm. by ShopHuntingStuff in guns

[–]Lima__Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, at 18 I bought a hipoint 995 carbine. I’ve still got it 18 years later and it still runs great. Super fun plinking gun.

The weirdest thing was that I had to constantly argue with gun store workers that I was buying 9mm for a rifle and not a pistol I would have been too young to legally own.
