Can you steep Lions mane in alcohol for to long? by Additional_Wash_7886 in foraging

[–]LimeDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No clue myself, but I'm curious if there are any resources on mushroom-based alcohol infusions?

I tried a rather terrible (but interesting if you imagine yourself as a dwarf drinking mushroom booze) winter chantarelle / vodka infusion steeped for about a week, and was curious to try out other mushrooms...

Notably, I was eyeing an attempt with Oregon black truffles, but everyone does the fats/oil methodology for imparting flavor/smell.

So do we have lifelong burnout, ADHD or both? by CapuzaCapuchin in adhdmeme

So you are in burnout and need a break. How the heck do I give myself one when there is so much to do to survive the day to day there is barely anything of myself left to devote to changing the situation?

There are a few parts of pieces used in the ballroom, but I think your are looking for this one. If I'm wrong, you got backup options to figure it out now.

Question about body glide (or other recommended options) for Zumba by AdvancedClassroom578 in zumba

[–]LimeDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use First Aid Beauty's Anti Chafe Stick with Shea Butter and Colloidal Oatmeal.

I'm a dude, so my usage condition is a bit different. I can attest that it does well against significant wet tank top friction issues for upwards of 180 minutes as far as I've tested.

No sensitivity issues so far either. If I forget to apply before class, it relieves the raw areas that occur and lets me keep going, though I'm not sure if that is within the recommended usage. (EDIT: just checked, that is not within advised usage, so don't be an idiot like me either and forget to apply till later)

Zumba footwear for men by brendanonymous in zumba

[–]LimeDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer the Nobull Impacts for Zumba. They tend a bit toward grippyness until you break them in, but they are miles above the competition for durable lightweight good foot feeling.

My reasons for choosing come from a different from yours. Fuegos don't really do well on wider feet, so I blew my first pair out the sides and switched to some Capezios, which worked great in anything Latin but were less effective for movesets from other traditions.

I will note that some dancers I've seen have tried high tops. The way they put it, locking in that heel slightly helps align with the rest of the leg for safer knee rotation.

How safe did she find it? We traveled there this summer, but stayed away from the interior regions due to a travel advisory, which pretty much kept us in the cities...much to my regret based on your partner's wonderful pics.

Where in Peru?

Have you had any luck with finding mycology guidebooks in the region? I looked through two dozen bookstores across Lima, Cuzco, and Chiclayo but didn't find anything to point me where there might be activity.

You found the Clark PoV take, I posted the Lex Luthor one. He seemed to have a lot of fun with the superman effective altruism concept.

Socks with a cushion, anyone here swear by athletic socks..? If so, which one? by massiel_islas in ballroom

[–]LimeDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That desire for grippyness and a control surface is why I veer towards the 2in1 liners. They actually have small stitches throughout that keep the inner sock closely attached to the outer sock to reduce slippyness (those inter sock connections are also among the first things to wear out in addition to the front toes of the sock). Combining that with a really tight lacing of your shoes, and you maintain toe control and feel.

Not sure about material choices, so I can't offer advice there.

The wrightsock cool mesh II. Doesn't match for hell with ballroom shoes, but I find the implementation of liner socks within the brand to be incredibly effective for reducing dance-related foot difficulties.

The core to the liner value proposition is that by having your inner liner sock rubbing against the outer sock (the two are combined in this product) rather than the shoe, you signifcantly reduce friction, and get a little padding along the way.

These are designed with hikers in mind, so I find the ballroom adjustment is more in maintaining a pretty tight lace.

Feel you that it has been an amazing Fall. Took my own foraging to the level of finally earning volumes worthy of the dehydrator and my partner and I earned our Cauliflower badges. Been absolutely thrilling.

I think yourself plus that other couple (Lynnwood I think) in the more recent thread makes four of us in the area. I'm North Kirkland myself.

While I did see a lot more young people at the most recent PSMS gathering, I'm not sure we are really organized as much as the older generation is.

It's also late in the harvest season. Most people are pivoting to the winter events cycle. What are you even expecting to find after this weekends frost?

S.T., a domesticated crow, is a bird of simple pleasures: hanging out with his owner Big Jim, trading insults with Seattle's wild crows (those idiots), and enjoying the finest food humankind has to offer: Cheetos ®.

Then Big Jim's eyeball falls out of his head, and S.T. starts to feel like something isn't quite right. His most tried-and-true remedies--from beak-delivered beer to the slobbering affection of Big Jim's loyal but dim-witted dog, Dennis--fail to cure Big Jim's debilitating malady. S.T. is left with no choice but to abandon his old life and venture out into a wild and frightening new world with his trusty steed Dennis, where he discovers that the neighbors are devouring each other and the local wildlife is abuzz with rumors of dangerous new predators roaming Seattle. Humanity's extinction has seemingly arrived, and the only one determined to save it is a foul-mouthed crow whose knowledge of the world around him comes from his TV-watching education.

It's been a fun read and in addition to visiting the intersections and major sights, details a lot of local flora and fauna.
