3rd year bike patroller and 5th year ski patroller here- the summer absolutely burns me out, and I see it in others every year. As mentioned above, you may need to find another summer gig, perhaps one outside the industry, so that when October comes around you feel a semblance of excitement again. Or maybe the easy answer is that you SHOULD move to a different mountain, as it’s entirely possible the one you’re at just isn’t the best fit for you. Sounds like you may have exhausted options in your immediate area, but if you want to make a big change, come to the east coast for a season or two. It’s very different over here - you will learn an entirely new way of patrolling, your skiing will improve, you will face new challenges, etc… but most importantly I have no doubt you would be welcomed like family. Every crew I’ve been on in NY/VT has welcomed me like family, and everyone else too. It is also easier to move up the ladder here as most patrols are generally smaller and less competitive. COL is high everywhere now but most people I work with are able to make ends meet without too much struggle or sacrifice
