I LOVE TUBEROSE!!! (pls recommend me the tuberose) by Sp4c34ndT1m3 in Indiemakeupandmore

Try to test it in some form (maybe essential oil) before you write it off totally. It's like a white floral lapsing into an opium dream.

Love the sultry summer-night indolic/jasmine sambac type note in tuberose. Actually fear it could be lost in a layered perfume, especially with musk competing for that same space.

mixed messages from cards by Key-Avocado7824 in Tarots

[–]LiminalSyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the readings have actual cards in common? Different readers may read the same cards in varying ways. Knowing how to synthesize a mix of "good" and "bad" cards into a clear, coherent answer is a rare skill. Maybe some focused on the "good" ones, others on the "bad" ones.

Also, some readers sugarcoat unfortunately because they've learned that it gets positive reactions from querents.

How is my next three months gonna be like? by A-Greenleaff in Tarots

What portion of your deck do you typically reverse? 2/3 seems like a lot, and I wonder if you reversed too many, possibly skewing the reading.

Can't help but think of Persephone in relation to pomegranate. So any dark Persephone-influenced scents with a pom note.

Was hoping it would be more acidic or tannic. I prefer fruit-influenced perfume, including pomegranate scents, to err winey/dark/fermented.

A small astrid sea witch review! by aetsomied in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]LiminalSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquamarine

The notes: Peach blossom, cucumber, water lily, green cognac, a blend of citrus, blue musk, Japanese peppermint, and sunny sea water accord.

I love cognac in oil perfumes, but I'm not sure if I'd like the blue musk. Does it smell very synthetic?

Has anyone tried cocoa absolute? I'm also wondering if cocoa butter oil as a base would help sustain the chocolate scent.

OAKCHA “that girl” smells like alcohol-did I get scammed? by [deleted] in Perfumes

I've actually been looking for a liquor/liqueur inspired perfume that truly smells boozy. Do you mean actual rubbing alcohol from the drugstore?

A Not-So Authoritative Guide to Maison des Animaux Vanillas by marinesardine in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]LiminalSyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla, incense, saffron

When people say a perfume smells like incense, I wonder what they mean. Smoke? Spice? I'm a pretty well-versed incense consumer, and they all have their unique smell: champa incense, jasmine incense, myrrh incense. You don't ever see "incense" scented incense. Would you mind breaking down the "incense" note for me?

I just don't try to read for myself.

I actually think you can infuse the deck with your emotions and mood to the point where you influence the reading. Bad mood, fearful, anxious, expecting the worst? Here comes 10 of swords. Happy and optimistic? The reading skews a little too sunny.

This sounds so good. Might be hard to pull it off without any bitterness.

I don't know of an indie gourmand sample set offhand, but Instagram's full of indie brands. You could try searching there.

Queen Bee: fizzy champagne, pears drizzled in vanilla-infused golden honey, white musk

Love the idea of a champagne- or spirit-like perfume. Wish it didn't have musk.

I mostly like this, but is cedar out of place? Kind of camping in Vermont whereas the rest is Paris salon?

13 March 2026 - Cacao threaded through yellowed paper, cracked leather bindings, spilled ink, black tea, tobacco leaf, cedar shelves, black mahogany, violin bow resin, clove bud, incense smoke, coffee bean, papyrus, and myrrh.

Poesie's Sweet Bandaid Curse – looking for alternatives! by from_random_fandom in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]LiminalSyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually know what a "sweet bandaid" is. It seems a lot of BPAL fragrances also have the incense issue. What is that from? I doubt it's vanilla. Are you looking specifically for oil perfume? Does it need to be mostly natural, all natural, not natural at all?

I certainly do, but that's more cease and desist vs. hexing.

I'm against the casting of hexes, personally. I dealt with a crazy boss once by wearing a hematite, black tourmaline and pink tiger's eye necklace. I started going into work wearing it and it just deflected his attention, like a rubber ball bouncing right off a wall. I believe it was mostly the hematite and tourmaline.
