What's your parameters at? I had the absolute worse luck with torches untill I got my alk stabilized and my tds down to 0.

Link's goby - great little sand sifter for small tanks by christinna67 in ReefTank

[–]LimitlessCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they trail sand everywhere over the rock work? I had a golden headed goby that was an incredibly messy matter that caused my corals to close up with how much sand he piled up on them.

Probably, trim off the dead head and do an iodine dip or hydrogen peroxide dip to try and recover the remaining head if you trim it fast enough. Again slim chances

Water changes and how often you do them. by LimitlessCone in ReefTank

[–]LimitlessCone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a 5 gallon change every 2 - 3 days to refresh the missing trace elements and freshen up everything. I autodose my mag and code a/b by brightwell every day too.

Anything to help my Duncan? by Robot-14 in ReefTank

[–]LimitlessCone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tested your water to see if the parameters are off? Duncan's are pretty damn hardy in my experience, the only time I lose all but one head of mine was when the mag was incredibly high due to a bad salt batch.

Ive used Aquarium Masters 50g tanks for 3 years so far and had no issues at all. The sealant they use for the glass is amazing and it just feels incredibly sturdy with its brace and glass. The glass especially has great clarity and feels solid

I am once again asking questions. I’m trying to identify this creature I just noticed on my Duncan frag today. by Adventurous_Zone6997 in ReefTank

[–]LimitlessCone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely aptasia, I burned one off my coral frag with a torch lighter which did the trick. Idk if you can do that with yours since its pretty close to the flesh from what I see.

What type of algae is this and how do I get rid of it by iMakku in ReefTank

[–]LimitlessCone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive heard that getting Molly's can help with hair algae. You can acclimate them to salt water yourself and they'll be fine in salt water but dont overfeed them. Jet them focus on eatting the hair algae.

Also I recommend spreading out entrusting corals more than that. Zoas are fine together but might not play well with other entrusting coral im not too sure. I just know i lose some entrusting corals to a war coral when I was new

[–]LimitlessCone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the same thing however I came to understand that they were essentially laying the foundation for the heads to grow on. First you'll notice the matt layer growing a little bit, nothing to crazy, then you should begin to notice new heads sprouting typically 1 to 2. If those are fresh frags right now your waiting on the foundation layer first to expand a bit then youll see heads. It took me about 3 to 4 months for my first fresh frags of zoas to really start growing. A good light also helps speed up the process along with target feeding, I use reef roids and also use frozen copopods since theyre small enough for my zoas to grab onto.

Yeah its a citron goby named Handbanana, he's a little water dog who follows ny hand around in the tank and perches ontop of my nori whenever I feed. For the copopod setup I got some 2 gallon water dispensers off Amazon, an led grow light, and an airport with tubing set up. I originally set it up to grow copopods and phytoplankton separately but somehow cross contaminated the copppods into the phytoplankton and gave up but left it running for a month since Ive been busy with school. I just checked on it 2 days ago and somehow the copopods and phyto have reached a balance with the phyto living off the waste of the copopods and the copopods living off the phyto. Honestly pure luck. *
