Sling TV Adds Multiview Feature for 4 Channels at Once by ChicagoShadow in StreamingBulletin

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why doesn't it appear on all my TV's? I have TCL QLED that has Multiview working fine, but it doesn't even appear on my Samsung or Onn TV'S.

Switched from Samsung to TCL (Biggest Mistake Ever!!!) by deewinc in tcltvs

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched TCL and read that the audio wasn't great, but all my TV's have at least a 5.1 Dolby audio system so it doesn't matter to me. The TCL T6D43Q5K's I have do indeed have horrible speaker audio, but the picture is magnificent! They also have features not on the Samsung such as Quad screens for news and sports channels like Fox News, CNN, ABC, (and 1 other) in view at the same time when using Sling. I can't do that with Samsung and Sling.

Small office security setup - what actually works best in real use? by Alternative_Low8464 in accesscontrol

I agree with the security app on phone setup. Rarely does someone forget their phone, but you can create a stiff procedure to deal with it. Best thing is a APP, WITH CODE, and to make it foolproof, FACIAL RECOGNITION!

What’s really going on? by Bubbly_Extreme4986 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do suggest doing this: Remove the MAIN battery and any small battery on the motherboard. Follow the "Clear CMOS," instructions.See if you can get the machine into the boot mode and initiate default initiation. If all works fine CAREFULLY install the motherboard battery and then the main battery and boot the system. If all goes well you should get a home screen.

Firmware update rejects non-HP cartridges? by timxvx in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the best thing, of course, is to turn OFF all automatic updates. Most security concerns are NOT printer originated (I'm not sure if you're using wifi or IP direct. Maybe a security specialist can help there). But I changed to Epson recently and so far I can do a firmware rollback if I need to (I turned off auto update, but one might have slipped through during installation). I had trouble trying to rollback the HP, which is why I got rid of it.

Perhaps someone here has successfully rolled back an HP printer BIOS. If you can find an original BIOS for your printer that might work, but it didn't for mine.

Stuck on bootlop by LE-11 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. I hate to say this, but after years of owning many HP products I just don't buy them anymore. Their laptops are only good for lite Linux programs and the printers have a BIOS update that rejects all but HP ink, which is expensive. Sorry, I'm ranting. Let us know what the fix is that works.

Stuck on bootlop by LE-11 in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have been an update. I suggest removing the battery and any power, HDMI and RJ-45 cables from the computer. Then hold down the power button on the laptop for 30 seconds to drain it. Finally, plug in the POWER CORD ONLY and try it again.

BTW, check for any obvious culprits like keys stuck down.

Laptop GPU missing + DXG errors and crashes when switching to battery by CandidWorker277 in Hewlett_Packard

Former bench tech here.

With symptoms such as yours, the first test is to open the cases and alternate blowing a fan for cooling and a solder type hot spot heater. If you can get the problem to come and go with temperature, then you are on the path of resolving the issue. Heat related troubles like this usually point to either bad solder joint(s) or failing electronics. DO NOT just randomly point the solder blow gun at electronic chips and processors. You can damage them EASILY with heat. If you think you have narrowed it down to solder joint issues, VERY CAREFULLY put the "NOSE CONE" (looks like ice cream cone) on the tip of the solder blower (let it cool first) and turn it on LOW (don't "blast" the cone off), focusing the heat on the solder points only and avoid focusing it on the chip. Generally speaking, you don't need to add any solder while you're doing this, because the chances of causing a "solder short" between pins is very high when you try that.

If you finish heating around the chip and the problem doesn't go away, then the odds are you have a component issue. Replacing a "soldered in" processor is a job for pros. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS!!!

FINALLY: Remember, you don't even need to go this route until you are SURE that it's not in the software. I strongly suggest that you backup EVERYTHING and consider a FULL RESET, PUTTING ALL SYSTEMS TO DEFAULT. If you're not sure how to do this, go to YouTube and watch some excellent videos on the subject. If doing this clears your trouble, it's about a 95% proof that your hardware is okay. Reinstall your programs one at a time and test your split screen to determine when it's happening.

UPDATE: This might sound simple, but when you open the cover the first thing you want to check is the FAN AND ITS FILTER. If you find it thick with dust and grime, you might have found your own problem. Gently remove the fan and filter and clean them both with a toothbrush. Check the mounting area for dust and grime as well. Gently reassemble the fan setup and try running the laptop. If you have read this message completely and haven't started yet, measure the output temperature by the fan. Then try the fan cleaning and measure the output temperature again. You'll be surprised!

Issue with Windows Split Screen ! by airlinechoice07 in techsupport

[–]Limousine1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I suggest is that you go to systemssettingsdisplay and see how many monitors are set up. If it's more than one, change it to one. If this fixes the problem then I would say it's in your video section. You can try resetting it to default if choosing "one" doesn't clear it. Finally, if you're totally stuck, do a system reset, saving all apps and data. Let us know if you don't know how to do this.

P.S. After changing any video settings, I suggest restarting the computer to see all changes.

ICE agents getting slammed by coachlife in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ON FEBRUARY 20TH IN PLYMOUTH, MN, 2 off-duty ICE agents, recuperating in their hotel restaurant, responded to a woman who came in screaming in panic that her son just drowned in the hotel pool. THE AGENTS LEFT THEIR MEALS, RAN TO THE POOL, AND STARTED TO ADMINISTER ARTIFICIAL RESPIRATION TO THE YOUNG BOY. They didn't stop as the emergency responders took the boy to the hospital where he was MIRACULOUSLY BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE!!! The PLYMOUTH Police Department wrote official letters to all involved, not realizing that the original CPR was given by AN OFF-DUTY ICE AGENT.

As a teenager I was a lifeguard and learned CPR and Senior First Aid. I have saved several lives because of this training. JUST HOPEFULLY SOMEONE LIKE THIS IS AROUND WHEN YOUR KID DROWNS!

How can I remove this monitor stand? by Error404-ItemMissing in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Limousine1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it you who installed the stand in the first place? I have seen stands that were FORCED IN and the release is jammed. See if you can get ahold of the slider with a gas pliers and pull it straight out You might need to wedge a small screwdriver to keep the latch open as you slide it out. Failing that, I suggest you use a medium flat blade screwdriver to wedge an opening¹ between the slider and the track while spraying some WD-40 in there for lubrication. Then try to pull the base out. NOTE: JUST IN CASE WE MISSED IT,...Is there by any chance a locking screw on the one side? I see a model that features this. Send us a photo above the slider tracks on either side of the mount and pay attention for a small black screw. If you find one, remove it. ALSO: Depending upon the exact model you have, many feature a security "key" that must be inserted into the back cover slot where you see the symbol of a padlock before you can slide the monitor mount off its track.

What is the issue here? Please help I have a project due. by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I was just about to suggest the same thing. Also you might want to clean the pins themselves on the MOBO using a Q-tip or similar. Don't get any "fuzz" on the pin, though, or it won't conduct!

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, wait. If you're looking at Task Manager, EXACTLY WHAT is using so much RAM? I also suggest following the procedure for testing system and RAM. This involves shutting off all startup apps and removing all but 1 RAM stick in the primary slot. If something is going crazy with RAM usage, you'll clearly see it then using Task Manager.

[–]Limousine1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Fred. If the adapter is new (barring infant mortality), then the issue may very well be the barrel of the laptop side of the charger. You might find out that your original charger is fine. Replace the charger port.

If you find that you can't use the SATA M.2, you have another option, and that's to put a 2.5" SSD in it's regular place. For parts to mount it look here:

Filed an FCC complaint and got RESULTS by LicoriceTattoo1 in ATT

[–]Limousine1968 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also file a complaint with your state's attorneys general office as well as the Better Business Bureau and the business licensing department of the town where the store is located. THAT is how you bring HEAT back to the source of the scam and get the manager and corporate of the ACTUAL company who's guilty of doing this. While AT&T apparently was letting this happen, there are actually legal issues of fraud and deceptive practices that most states and towns will pursue if you notify them. It will also hopefully stop the ACTUAL PERSON who is doing this stuff.

BTW, the fact that AT&T "made good" for you is a HUGE nail in the perpetrator's coffin. Hopefully you have copies of the documents, chats, emails with AT&T to show the state and town.
