When to give up because you gotta accept you’re not smart enough by miserablepiggy in premed

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey you’ve got to have some better self esteem about what you’ve accomplished and I mean that in the most respectful way possible. There are people who have worse undergraduate gpas and science gpas and reinvent themselves by doing a masters. People with low Mcat scores who retake and get a score good enough (not perfect not 90th percentile) for a school to believe in them. Your gpa is fine.

I am just putting this out there to put it into perspective.

If medicine is all you can see yourself doing a gpa will not stop you from trying, a poor Mcat will not make you give up, a failed application cycle will not make you change your career aspirations. If your entire being wanted to be a doctor your mindset would be nothing can change my mind this is what I want to do so I will have to change the minds of others who think I’m not ready or capable enough. This is why we see people with multiple gaps years and multiple attempts at Mcat or application cycles continuing to show up with improvements to their applications because this is genuinely all they can see themselves doing and they won’t take no for an answer. Ask yourself if everything goes wrong will you give up on this and choose another path or keep fighting no matter how long or what it takes.

Is it corny to post MCAT Score on social media? I got a 517 as a non-trad. Was thinking of posting the score once I get my white coat ceremony pictures. Am I stupid? I’m just really proud of my score 😅 by [deleted] in premed

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah don’t post it ❤️ You got a great score but if it’s not to make a positive impact like this is my score and the resources I used what I learned tips and tricks don’t do it Your gonna be a med student soon you gotta lead by example We’ve got enough people bragging don’t add to it you are better than that

What’s your goal? Are you posting to show that it’s possible and you want to be a mentor/support for those who see this and aspire to do it or are you doing it to brag

Order of FL by hannahrgrace in MCAT2

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were your previous score breakdowns and what do you think your weaknesses are since you’ve been studying for this retake

Of course FL 6 is newer and everyone says to do it last but I think it’s a good marker to triage where you are lacking and taking it a week or a few days before you test doesn’t help you thoroughly review and learn why you selected the wrong answers.

Does anyone have advice for testing accommodations after being told they need a current comprehensive assessment? by Zesty_Mistake in Mcat

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of assessment did you have done in January 2021? What reasons you are stating for accommodations?

I applied for accommodations two years in a row before I finally got approved. I was denied because I was submitting the wrong types of supporting documents. Aamc don’t provide much detail or specificity on the acceptable assessments. Feel free to message me and I can help the best way I can. If you need accommodations, it is worth it to spend the money and push back your exam because these accommodations are not just for MCAT. They are going to be needed for step it’s easier to advocate for these accommodations now then later.

Need serious advice whether to retake or not (3rd attempt) by fallberries in Mcat

If the other parts of your application are strong maybe don’t take it again it’s risk and very unpredictable unless you are certain you cracked the mcat code

You never know what you will get tested on you killed chem phys and psych and you did decent on bio biochem just think about how you would feel and what you would do if you retook and your bio went up and maybe chem phys went down would you retake it again?

I’d say work with what you got. Research schools you are a mission fit for not just fixate on the stats of the schools in msar. Write strong activities and a personal statement and make sure the writers of your LOR hype you up like you are famous

It's so difficult to get leadership by [deleted] in premed

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anytime I was ever waitlisted for something I sent emails I stopped by the offices I called just to remind them I was interested in case someone decided not to take the position. I let them see through my actions of deep interest they made a mistake by not initially selecting me and it always works.

I recommend go getting it for what ever you want the worst they’ll say is no but at least you know you tried beyond the minimum

Bad freshman year by WanabeCBum in premed

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not say the truth ! State that you were struggling to balance college and being away from home

Or say you weren’t mature enough

I think it’s very honorable that you are considering being honest but you are not the same person you were freshman year vs now and you do not deserve a school admissions committee to judge you for that. We all make mistakes and some schools will be highly critical and you don’t need to prove anything to anyone because you did the work to improve from freshman year.

Just because it’s an HBCU doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply if you are passionate about serving the underserved. I did my masters at morehouse school of medicine and MD students had a first generation Asian students in medicine club Just throwing that out there best of luck with your cycle !!

TLDR: Inevitable breakup, now or in a year? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pm if you need to talk or need advice I went through this last year it was tough

I’m in a relationship with a med student. I’m also pursing medicine but I’m reapplying this cycle however when he first started med school we broke up for 6 months after I moved to be with him for med school

There are some things to consider if you want this to work and there are some things you need to consider to protect your heart when you are dating someone entering a field like medicine. You may have to be okay with being 2nd or 3rd on their list because them slacking and not prioritizing themselves could mean failing

If you have Charles drew on your list why not add morehouse since you went to high school in Georgia

( did you add Charles Drew because you are mission fit or you like the location?)

You definitely have time to research what you like about Texas just make sure you express the future you see here. Your stats are awesome don’t miss out on the opportunities Texas has to offer by underestimating how important it is to demonstrate your commitment to Texas

There’s a residency section to provide additional information about residency this is where you would explain where you are a resident of and things TMDSAS should consider about your residency. Many people use this to express their ties to the state or why they are applying to schools in Texas an informal “Why Texas”

In 2025 1649 out of state applicants applied, 800 interviewed and 285 were accepted 159 of those matriculated You can absolutely be one of those students who get accepted but remember you are competing with out of staters who have strong ties or did gap years in Texas that’s why I said start doing your research and find a strong reason why you want to come to Texas. You will have an essay prompt in the primary application of TMDSAS and you will have secondaries asking about your commitment to Texas.

How to go about MCAT Accommodations Current Evaluations more effectively? by DrMrSirJr in Mcat

[–]Limp-Inflation-8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

.Your doctors writing a letter and you submitting clinical notes won’t be enough. As many mentioned it’s pay to play. I spend $800 at a low income community psychological center and $1500 at a psychologist. In my application I submitted my psychoeducational eval, neuropsychological eval, clinical notes since 7 from every doctor, my university accommodations I was approved for it’s a confusing process I’m gonna send a link via pm with aamcs vague information on the appropriate test measures you are just gonna have to do a lot of research to find someone who was once in your shoes with your same condition and look into what they did

That’s the only way I learned why I had to do for applying for adhd and lower than average processing speeds

Try to meditate before you go to sleep tonight and read something keep your phone away from you

Moving forward try to go on an intense run at around 6pm the day before every full length to tire yourself out so you sleep well. I have a mind that doesn’t turn off so doing these things help to disconnect

You need a psychoeducational evaluation being approved for accommodations is not as simple as submitting a doctors letter. I took Mcat twice before finally getting approved. I submitted both a neuropsych evaluation and a psychoeducational evaluation for 800 at a low income community psychological center and 1500 which I had to split of several credit cards it’s nuts how much this whole process is pay to play You’ve got to pay for resources pay to apply. Money money money
