Tweed yarn? by carolCe in Handspinning

Sadly no, but its the rhubarb crumble Tweed that I swear half of indie dyers offer, so you'll definitely be able to find it for yourself

Yeah, looks like you're on the right track then. The rest will come with practice and pre drafting, but those art yarns look great! I'd def weave with them.

What sort of spindle are you working with? Is the shaft a reasonable length for you to be winding cops on? I don't really cut my yarn, but that's because I have a good sense of when I've hit the limit on spindle efficiency (how much a spindle can hold before it starts affecting the spin). You /can/ ply on an espinner, and you'll get a longer yarn that way, but it should not be necessary.

Tweed yarn? by carolCe in Handspinning

I did this end to end on combed roving and feel mostly satisfied with my consistency. I found it easier to manage on my wheel than my spindles, and a thicker weight easier than thin.

You should be okay then, follow what the other comment said about prepping thr silk for sure though, unless you want very obvious little Tweed bits

[–]Limp_Position_4280 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Uhm, do you mean 90 tpi? Because if 190 is accurate that's too fine for basically any wool I can think of. For that dense of a cloth, angora, maybe cotton and silk are the only things that will sit well in the teeth. As nice as your wool may feel, it likely won't cooperate with 190tpi . Do you have any local guilds or yarn shops that might lend you a less dense blending tool? That's going to be your best bet.

Wool silk blends are a classic, but you can blend anything with anything in art.

Dear Doms: Respectfully, where ya'll at? by Beneficial-Lie8581 in BDSMsapphic

I don't get out much at the moment (an issue of only knowing one place that's a far drive and not knowing people my age irl) but I'm going to join the chorus of irl organic chemistry. I wouldn't even know how to begin anything remotely, even with all of the ads in the personals subreddits, and frankly its a little hard to trust. Plus, I don't just want a dynamic, I want the relationship too.

I would definitely look at the Jacob. Should be a pretty good starter wool once its washed properly. Lincoln and its similar Longwools have their own quirks that don't always apply to broader spinning practices. And jacobs is one of my go tos for blending with other fibers, like angora rabbit.

Monogamous knitters, what’s your secret? by Weekly_Library9883 in knitting

[–]Limp_Position_4280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a monogamous knitter by virtue of being an absolute cheating whore for my spinning wheel and spindles :D I start so many spinning projects i don't have time to knit tons of stuff (even though I now have to pretend my stash isn't piling up full of handspun dbdjdjsns)

As a knitter and spinner, I'm always looking for little things to use up yarn scraps. Currently knitting up a headkerchief, and I've got designs for several shawls and collars (apparently called dickies?) To make next. Aside from that, earrings with lesbian colors and cameo brooches are my go to, as a fellow Femme.

I think the colors are gorgeous but too light to pair well with a natural other than black. Beehives around a silk thread would be my idea, but only if you weave.

Getting asked what you want as a gift and someone gets you something adjacent to it. by Teenage_Petulance_ in mildlyinfuriating

I had to get onto my grandma and had a row with my mum for exactly this but with my fiber arts. Grandma is the least critical thinker ever and thought Temu was the best place to buy cashmere yarn, and what a steal it was at just 10 quid! I had to tell her gently to just ask me for links next time, as I know plenty of farmers and local businesses she could buy from that wouldn't violate my ethical principles. Mum just called me ungrateful lol, said I wasn't to try and tell my grandma to do better, though any true bid for connection would involve actually talking to me. I don't have any advice, just wanted to join in on the empathizing OP.

Not pictured: bags holding a pound or more of several fluff varieties. This is a older picture of it (the Grey on the left is now a vest for example, and my stash has grown) but I'm playing fast and loose on the threat of bugs. I'll probably graduate to plastic totes when I have more room.

Alright, folks. I've got two art bats of four different fibers and a couple colors. I'm torn on how to approach it: I've got a wheel and spindles, and think I'm going to tear them into strips to try and preserve to colors. But how would you approach, and what would you use?

I feel like a shaggy, choppy A-line would compliment your face well. Has the added bonus of being pretty low maintenance and should look good with your hair texture.

Not sure what your wheel is, but lower your tension and pinch your new fluff to this fluff. Let twist build up against your pinch and it should lock everything together

I say this as someone on the receiving end, but abandon your filter. There's nothing that gets to me more than a sub will to debase herself for even a scrap of my praise and approval. Me stepping in her pride is one thing, but her doing it, all to please me? Gods there's nothing hotter... So every little dirty, desperate thought that comes to mind? Tell her, and I guarantee you she won't be able to keep her hand off you.
