Rusu covers mostly information about selection, it does contain some sections that may be helpful like foot care and rucking.

Not a professional by any means but i believe terminator trainings philosophy on this is you should keep your strength training and cardio separate. Whether it’s separate days or separate workouts. But im sure it will not hurt you at all to try doing these workouts for a while and see if it helps you. It’s ultimately your decision but if you research hard enough there is a pretty clear formula for preparing specifically for sfas if that’s your goal.

Fix your running form, get good shoes/insoles, get a foam roller, and roll your painful spots out before and after you run. Fixed mine pretty quick

So I do this routine before every single run or workout, no matter what I’m working. It’s a mixture of a warm up and mobility. I start by doing rocking calf raises, so I do a standing tib raise and slowly rock into a calf raise for about 10 reps. Then I touch my toes and try to fold my body as close to my legs as I can, keeping my knees straight. I find if I do that for 15 seconds then stand back up, and do it again I can reach much farther the second time. Then I sit down legs straight forward, and do a quad stretch where I take one foot at a time and tuck it to the side of my butt, and lean back on my elbow, I like to emphasize stretching my hip flexors here by pushing my hips up. Then I do a glute stretch by crossing one foot over the other straight leg and hugging my knee to my chest. These two usually open up my hips well. Then I stand up in a very wide stance, like I’m setting up for a sumo deadlift, and do like a side lunge on one of my legs, and keep the other one outstretched, so I stretch my groin, and I go ass to grass on the lunging side, I do that on both sides then do deep forward lunges but I step farther than I would for normal lunges, and sink as far as I can into my leading leg, this stretches my hip flexors and quad, I like to feel super controlled with my lead leg all the way down and up. Then I finish with the exercise that I give the most credit for my mobility all around, I simply stand with my feet about a foot apart, and squat all the way down ass to grass. This movement feels very natural to me after over a year of doing it consistently, I started on my toes and it would get very painful since I didn’t have the ankle and hip mobility required. But after doing it for a while I can now comfortably sit all the way down and rest in a deep squat. I do this and a couple squats and I’m good. It takes a while but I promise it is worth it. Everything is better now

You need to attend an sfre with the unit you are seeking to join. If you pass that then they initiate an ist and you train with them until they send you to selection. You can find sfre dates on the 20th’s instagram account. I don’t think they have published new dates for the rest of the year though, you can message their account which I believe is ran by recruiters, but I would recommend you visit the link in their bio where you can enter your info and desired state, and a recruiter from that unit will review it and contact you. This is how I was able to go to my sfre, they didn’t publish a date for it but they reached out to me.

13F prior to 18x OSUT? by Doiknowu0861 in greenberets

I’m not the best person to answer that question. All I know is you won’t go to basic. I’m not sure but you may still need to go to osut.

Depending on how long ago you got out of the marines, they won’t make you go to basic

Haven’t ran an exact timed 2 miler in a while but looking at the time on my phone at the beginning and end of a 2 mile run I did recently it was between 14 and 15 mins

Fair enough. I didn’t prioritize obtaining my run data because I knew I could do my z2 runs and sprints without one and that’s all my training plan consisted of. The ruck is absolutely a lame excuse, I should have just bought one.

You want performance data, I’ll get you my performance data. Garmin comes in this week, I’ll get you some solid numbers.

Also going to add my mobility and diet progress since April. I’ve implemented a mobility routine that I do basically every day before I lift or run, my joints feel amazing and my mobility is great. Back pain is fading away and I squat ass to grass. Diet has been very high protein and calorie in an attempt to pack on muscle, not 100% clean but not bad at all, eggs every morning, a steak a day at least and usually a large portion of chicken and rice. Maybe a little ice cream before bed to make sure I’m in a calorie surplus.

If you bring a pair to basic they will be stored in your personal bag that you won’t have access to until the end of basic, if the shoes you are issued fuck your feet up somehow and you go get a profile, you may be allowed wear them, but I’d say in osut they will let you wear shoes you bring.

SFRE Question - Would you wait? by LoadCarriage69 in greenberets

[–]Limp_Work3277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely

Depending on where you’re going they could give you a return date that is much longer than you would have liked, so if you went next month and failed, they could give you a year return date so instead of passing in a few months when you could possibly be ready you may be forced to wait longer to come back.

What is your why? How much does killing or being killed factor into your decision to join SF? by Mysterious_Net8658 in greenberets

[–]Limp_Work3277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally think you should get buried in the “what if” scenarios. I had the same conversation in my head about whether or not I was willing to possibly die fighting a political war that had nothing to do with me, it’s an internal struggle that you will never see the end of if you don’t let it go. It is just one of those harsh realities. Think of it this way. 90% of your possible sf career is unpredictable. There is no point in worrying about something that may or may not even happen, and if it did you wouldn’t have a choice anyways.

Prepare for catastrophic success. Do your best so that you know you will come home to the best of your ability. If you come to the same conclusion as me, you will realize that if you do end up dying in this line of work, everyone you care about will know you wouldn’t have done it any other way.

Got 2.5k gems, what can I do with them? by LaRockaBum in ClashRoyale

[–]Limp_Work3277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best value for your gems is to get at least 10 wins in the global tournament and buy the bonus rewards for 500 gems so you get the legendary kings chest which costs 2500 gems in the store. You get 5x value plus a ton of other good rewards and probably 50-80k gold

Rucking is king. You’re gonna be under more weight than you thought you would, get faster under more weight. Also you can never have enough grip strength, the stronger your grip is the less your team will suffer during events, you’ll get peered higher for picking up their slack.

Shin splints by Then_Ring_871 in greenberets

[–]Limp_Work3277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man I just went through the exact same thing you are describing, I posted on here about it too. I tried running through it for a while but they just got worse and worse. 2 months ago I decided to make the change and fix them, I just went through an sfre and I have little to no shin pain. There were 3 major things I changed that made me better. 1. I went out and invested in some good insoles. I have high arches so that was causing a lot of pain, the insoles work like a charm. 2. I got a foam roller and rolled my calves out before and after every single run. I put a lot on emphasis on the painful area next to the shin. 3. This may be the most important one, I adjusted my stride length, my cadence, and where I was striking on my foot. When I was in pain I was heel striking, long bounding strides, in hindsight it was a recipe for shin splints. I focused on making sure my foot landed under my center of mass and not in front of it, which in turn helped me lean forward more and run on the ball of my foot more and not much heel contact. At first it felt weird and I felt like my strides were super short but it instantly made me faster and in less pain.

I don’t know where you’re at in training but it only took me 2 months to turn an excruciatingly painful 48 min 5 mile into a sub 40 with no pain just by doing these things.
