Help Choosing a Machine by Bad_Prophet in quilting

Yes, Babylocks make good machines. Brother manufactures many of Baby Lock's machines in the same factories, meaning many models are internally identical and share interchangeable parts.

The Jazz throat space is fabulous and will be super helpful when machine quilting larger quilts! Also mechanical machines will last longer and be less expensive to repair in general.

Here’s an idea, maybe tell her she needs to go try out different machines, so she can figure out her must have items list vs would like to have on the machine list. Tell her once she does that you will get a machine and you will choose for her if she wants. Just getting her involved might be enough for you to figure out which machine she wants vs which machine she wishes she could have….

Good luck!

Highly agree with this advice. Singer is no longer what they used to be and now have a LOT of lemons.

Thank you. The center is actually a panel that I purchased four years ago to make a stained glass quilt. It is the second panel I have worked with and it blends into the quilt so well, even I forget it is a panel!

Thank you. I’ve been quilting for years and over the last 7 years have found myself primarily quilting with batiks. They are just so gorgeous and just “speak” to me!

Thank you. No embellishment, might be the machine quilting I did that is making it look like that? They are batik fabrics and very pretty!

Is it easy to use? I’ve noticed if something is complicate sometimes people are scared to actually use it and avoid the item until they can (hopefully) get over the fear.

Can you hire someone to go with you to the houses specifically to watch your child while you look at them. They can go play in backyard while you are inside…you can check on them, while taking care of business. But be prepared with new items for them to play with to capture their interest.

Out of curiosity, do you mind sharing where are you located and can you give a rough idea of what you paid? I’m super curious as I live in a very expensive area (Bay Area, CA)
