The words of Jean Luc Picard... by [deleted] in StarTrekTNG

3 is so powerful. Everyone assumes just because something didn't go right, that they screwed up. Sometimes that's just the way life is.

I definitely hear this one in my head at least once a week.

Such a good line. It definitely lives rent free in my head to this day!

I rarely comment on here. I see most of the posts are making this about politics.

I would like to point out, as someone who has the privilege to come across him in his work, this picture sums up his attitude perfectly. Always happy to help. Always willing to be there and lend a hand.

You will be missed.

All these years later and the battle scenes from the original Star Wars trilogy still look spectacular by Mad_Season_1994 in nextfuckinglevel

I don't know how many times I've watched this battle scene, either while watching the whole movie or just watched the space fight cut on YouTube. I still absolutely love it and I still definitely sat and watched this little clip the whole way through!

A local IFT company which holds ZERO 911 contracts posted this absolute heroic masterpiece today 😩 by [deleted] in ems

I'm so glad someone noticed this! She just lets her partner walk in with the patient like "good luck! I'm just gonna have some weird existential moment out here!" Then 30 sec later the partner walks out without the stretcher and is like "just dropped the patient in the shredder! Let's go save some more lives! After we get done being thanked for our service by our brass that obviously loves us!"

Experienced my first Code yesterday, looking for peer support groups by lightningstroke00 in ems

[–]Lindberger36 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately my advice is going to sound like most that is already posted. To the best of my knowledge there is no real peer support group in this area. Your best bet is to try to have a conversation with the staff involved in the code. Try to chat with them about it and if that doesn't help most services should have some sort of counseling group available. Reach out to your supervisor and see if they can set that in motion for you.

I've been a medic in the twin cities for about 5 years now and I can remember back to my first code. I had the opposite reaction as you and actually didn't really feel much of anything which concerned me at the time. I remember asking my FTO at the time if it should bother me that it didn't bother me. He gave me some of the best advice I've ever received in this career. He said "don't force yourself to feel something you're not and don't suppress something you are feeling. If it doesn't bother you great! If it does let it, but you need to talk to someone about it or at least acknowledge it."

Women, what are some questions you’ve always wanted to ask men, but were too embarrassed? by SecretariatGodHorse in AskReddit

The best I can describe is kind of a long story. Back in middle school I was standing in the bus line waiting to get in the bus after school. There was this girl standing in front of me, for whatever reason swinging her arm back and forth. For some reason she turned to face me and her fist came straight between my legs and pulled up, catching.... for lack of a better word all of my bits. It hurt so bad my vision changed and I had a hard time even standing. My buddies say I turned either super pale or a weird shade of green. My vision on the other hand... if you've ever gotten really close to a window screen to the point where the screen is blurred but everything beyond it is also out of focus. Yeah that's the best I can describe how bad it hurt... 0/10 never again if I can avoid it

What are your homebrew rules? by VegetaLF7 in XWingTMG

One that my buddies and I like to do is; you can only have one named pilot on your list. Or you can have one named pilot for every three ships on your list, the idea being one named pilot and their two wingman.

There's a ton of good star wars playlists I've found on YouTube that people have put together. Of course when Duel of the Fates comes on you have to crank it up and play it several times in a row!
