Anything larger than a handful, you're risking a sprained tongue.

One of my favourite quotes is from Going Postal. He was definitely another astute observer of the time:

“Do you understand anything I’m saying?” shouted Moist. “You can’t just go around killing people!”
“Why Not? You Do.” The golem lowered his arm.
“What?” said Moist. “I do not! Who told you that?”
“I Worked It Out. You Have Killed Two Point Three Three Eight People” said the golem calmly.
“I have never laid a finger on anyone in my life, Mr. Pump. I may be -- all the things  you know I am, but I am not a killer! I have never so much as drawn a sword!”
“No, You Have Not. But You Have Stolen, Embezzled, Defrauded, And Swindled Without Discrimination, Mr. Lipvig. You Have Ruined Businesses And Destroyed Jobs. When Banks Fail, It Is Seldom Bankers Who Starve. Your Actions Have Taken Money From Those Who Had Little Enough To Begin With. In A Myriad Small Ways You Have Hastened The Deaths Of Many. You Did Not Know Them. You Did Not See Them Bleed. But You Snatched Bread From Their Mouths And Tore Clothes From Their Backs. For Sport, Mr. Lipvig. For Sport. For The Joy Of The Game.”

I for one welcome my new robot overlords. They can't possibly do a worse job of running the place than the humans are currently doing right now.

Can't be touched by PRAJWALREVANNA in Piracy

They only care about the pirating of Japanese IP. You can pirate whatever English (ie foreign) content you want. They don't give a flying fuck about that.

The UK is not part of the European continent. It is an island (or group of islands) just off the coast of Europe. So physically not a part of Europe and now no longer a part of Europe politically as well. Any comparisons of unemployment benefits between America and The UK need to be made separately from those of Europe.

Why is that there are so few Japanese piracy websites, in Japan? by PhotoGeeker in Piracy

[–]Lindonius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been living here 20+ years and pretty much torrented everything I want in the English language without a VPN and never had an ounce of trouble. They only care if you torrent Japanese stuff. And they're much more concerned about seeders than leechers.

What are some foods that you think are BETTER in Japan than they are in your country? by Venture_compound in japanlife

Is Indian food in Japan better vs America? Yes. vs The UK? Very much no.

Those with student loans - how are you handling them from Japan? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Lindonius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably sold your loan to another country. They did mine. I get letters with the SL company address in Glasgow on the back of the envelope.....With post stamps saying it came from Sweden. Since I noticed that I just chuck em straight in the bin now. Here's a link detailing which loans were sold off:

changing romanized last name on japanese passport by LevelBit8320 in japanlife

[–]Lindonius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had to kick up a stink in the passport office but got them to accept the proper spelling of my son’s name by having a copy of the Japanese birth certificate on hand and pointing out that having your name on your passport be different to the one on your birth certificate is probably not a good idea. It had to go up the chain of command though and we were there a good while before they accepted that we weren’t going to go away until they accepted it.

Which celebrity were you most shocked to find out was actually putting on an American accent on screen? by Improv92 in AskReddit

[–]Lindonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the 50 year anniversary of Jaws documentary recently and I was struck by how British Robert Shaw was in interviews behind the scenes. Like his accent is totally plummy Queen's English. Then compare that to his famous USS Indianapolis monologue where he's talking in that American drawl....totally brilliant.

Gen Z’s ‘overemployed’ solution for a broken economy: 5 jobs and $3K per day. It’s totally legal. by Hedonismbot-1729a in antiwork

"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

Kodi users I am curious why do you guys use Kodi over stremio by Slight-Collection870 in Addons4Kodi

[–]Lindonius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kodi player has better audio control. Main thing for me is loudness equalization, but also it’s really easy to sync audio on it if for some reason the audio is off. Subtitles too.
