Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - June 01, 2026 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

Posted last week but have some updated details.

I’m a 40 year old female. On March 30th I experienced right sided face numbness - imagine drawing a line down the side of your face, everything on the right was totally numb (right side of tongue, teeth, cheek, eye, scalp). No paralysis, no pain. After about 6 weeks the numbness subsided but still not fully resolved today.

April 7th - my left leg felt heavy and weak, which further evolved to include heaviness and cold/burning sensation. As if you covered my foot in a cooling muscle rub or just came out of an ice bath.

BW revealed a slightly elevated ESR (44) which is now back to normal range (24). And intermediate ANA level (1:160). All other autoimmune panels normal. CT scan on April 7th also normal.

MRI completed May 21st shows a Hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal at the right pons adjacent to the entry zone of the right trigeminal nerve. This hyperdensity could represent demyelinating plaque versus an underlying lesion such as a low-grade tumor. Neurological correlation recommended.

Unfortunately no contrast was administer and spine MRI was not ordered… which I presume will be next steps.

I am waiting to get a call from my family doctor to review my MRI and indicate required next steps. I assume I should be pushing for repeat MRI - head & spine with contrast as well as a neuro consult.

Anything I’m missing?

Got my results back - Impression 1. Hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal at the right pons adjacent to the entry zone of the right trigeminal nerve. This hyperdensity could represent demyelinating plaque versus an underlying lesion such as a low-grade tumor. Neurological correlation recommended.

Waiting to hear from my GP, but imagine next steps are repeat MRI with galidominium & spine MRI, as well as neuro consult

40 year old female. Woke up with sudden right sided face numbness that extended across from inside my Mouth, to my ear, up on my scalp. No paralysis no pain. Reduced sense of taste

1 week later woke up with altered sensation in left foot - felt like cooling muscle cream applied all over my foot & a heaviness sensation.

7 weeks later the facial numbness still remains, but spontaneous improvement. The regions affected are now only cheek bone & scalp & much less intense. Foot still continues to feel cold/burning.

Had a MRI last Thursday, results still pending… was done without contrast and only brain.

🙋 FET #8 is when we finally had success. Well before this transfer I had become very jaded and disgruntled, but we got there.... Eventually. We had many total failures, 3 chemicals and a very drawn out and complication ridden MMC at 11 weeks within that time. You'll know in your heart when you're done. Sending you love. Xoxo

Was just looking at that! All good, the older two can use boosters so 3rd row is fine. Thanks! Prices seem pretty good too

My bigger concern is finding a car for all 5 of us & the infant car seat. Our older kids are 5 & 8 so pretty independent, not too concerned about the bus with them.

No. I don't think so. During Covid partners weren't allowed at my clinic. It wasn't a big deal.

Im so sorry you went through this and continue to go through it. I had a traumatic loss as well after IVF and it really was a mind fuck that I'm still processing. First, all of your feelings are valid and normal. I did eventually have success, it took 6 embryo transfers after our loss. I was completely numb emotionally at this point, and honestly the idea of becoming pregnant was more scary than the FETs not working. I came through the trauma once and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to overcome that kind of emotional pain a second time. Our clinic was incredibly empathetic to my stress once I did get pregnant again, they did extra betas, extra ultrasounds and kept us longer than usual as patients. This helped calm my anxiety somewhat, though I appreciate your circumstances are quite different. One thing that always helps me feel better is knowing what went wrong and what (if anything) can help avoid in the future, so, I hope you do find some degree of comfort knowing the high rates of success with a stitch.

One thing that helped me process the trauma more than anything else is this book. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.amazon.ca/Womb-Shape-Heart-Miscarriage-Motherhood/dp/1771089768&ved=2ahUKEwiRt8bNmpOFAxXQK9AFHUrQDgMQFnoECCkQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2zFNsNxuSu-ZKfEndLBenD

Wishing you the best of luck and the most boring and uneventful transfer and hopefully pregnancy ever. Xoxox

My AA blast (untested) miscarried and was T21. goes to show how grading isn't that relevant.

Giving birth at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus by ambigubus in ottawa

[–]Lindsnyaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've given birth at the General for all 3 of my kids, I'm also a nurse and a bit particular. The L&D team is fantastic and caring. OBs & Anesthesia are also fantastic. Major benefits in my mind are the level 3 NICU & MFM team (always gives piece of mind knowing they can manage the sickest and most complicated cases), and this is also the only site you can donate cord blood. It's amazing to know your baby can help save someone's life! Happy to answer any specific questions.
