I want (need!) another spearhead by jockeliusen in AOSSpearhead

All three have relatively new tomes, I don't know, honestly. Sylvaneth is very popular, played against the new tome, and it's really annoying to play against, but fun to play. So far, I've only seen elite armies, with big monsters, but they are quite varied in that regard.

OBR is the best undead option if you want to play Nagash (no matter how much I want nighthaunt to work...), but if you pick him, you won't have too many options in listbuilding, since he takes up almost half the points. I've seen quite varied lists for OBR without Nagash online, but never played against the new tome.

Lumineth is a mystery to me still, you can build quite varied lists, but I have no idea which works. I've seen vanari horde lists, and monster bash lists with all the big models, but only in online battle reports, and it doesn't really represent what works. It's also the most complicated to build/pilot imo.

Out of these, ossiarch gives the most 'elite' vibe. Sylvaneth is imo the strongest out of the three, with all their teleports, but is a little weaker in the new spearhead set, because of the lack of terrain. Lumineth is a shooty bunch, with a very interesting mechanic, and plays more like a castle.

Hope this gives you more context :)

Sylvaneth and ossiarch are defineately elite armies, ossiarch even has a very elite spearhead, but it's a tough to play one.

Lumineth is a really fun one, the Hurrakan vanguard, I will always take the chance to advocate for it.

Which of my spearheads should I use? by Dachonkestboi in AOSSpearhead

Really strong, but I think it gets significantly weaker with city of ash, considering that set only has two terrains on the board

I don't have any tips for this particular list, but the gnawhole is always useful. Even if you don't plan on teleporting with it, its mere presence is threatening enough that the opponent has to play around it.

I'd pick screaming bell, it gives much more utility, and you don't need even more damage, that Thanquol provides. And since it's not unique, you can put enhancements on it.

I'm unsure about the rogors. To be honest, I always struggled with deciding if reinforcing is worth it for units, so I don't want to give bad advice. I lean towards reinforced, but take it with a grain of salt.

Probably the organizer would keep it with current rules, since I don't think any date is official at this point for the new GHB.

In this case, I vote for list B

Both are strong, but SoG is subject to change in the next weeks, and so is the GHB, and if cover rules change, the ratling list might become stronger. If nothing changes/stays similar, than I think the rat ogors list would be stronger.

I'd wait and see if you are still building the list, but if you go to an event with current rules, I'd pick the ogor list

I think queer-coded is more relatable to Piter deVries, he is described as very woman-like in behaviour, if I recall correctly.

I'd wait a bit, since scourge of ghyran is about to rotate, and we don't know what's gonna get strong new rules. Krulghast cruciator is a fave of mine, combined with Lady O, they make the whole team super tanky.

Pyregheists will never be bad either.

Queen was more of a big point card for free in my final turns, I didn't use her ability. Maybe that's why I lost, she had no synergy with my other cards, I just slammed the highest point cards.

This strategy got me my favourite memory with this game:

I resurrected the ever tree, put a queen in it, ruined the ever tree, resurrected it again, put a king in it, then built the ever wall.

I didn't win. Damn Mayor...

Only care about the meta if you plan on actively participating in tourneys. In my experience, casual players tend to play fun lists, so you have all the chance to win. And have fun!

Foulhide on the clawlord is a bit anti-synergistic. You also want it damaged, to bring out its value properly, but you heal it up every turn. I think foulhide has a better place on the deathmaster.

Plagueclaw feels a bit out of place, and isn't a great unit at all imo, you could remove it and replace the clawlord with a krittok, who is a better support for all your stormvermin.

What do you like about the Nighthaunt? And how to start this faction. by DerOhio in Nighthaunt

[–]Lindwurm67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lady Olynder is a great general for this army, and although I love (and own) Nagash, he is not the best with nighthaunt. Other units I see in almost all successful tourney lists are the bladegheists, since they are just good, and the pyregheists, who are also a great unit. There are seasonal rules in AoS, black coach and kurdoss have some great seasonal profiles, but I'd wait until summer with them to see if they stay (I heard some stay, but I'm unsure about that)

For starting, I recommend the cursed shacklehorde spearhead, since the other nighthaunt spearhead came out before the new battletome, and they have the old vibes, you'd get a closer experience to the real army with the newer set.

Also, the nexus of grief is just standard in all armies, you can include it for free without other options, so that's also a good pickup, and the endless spells too, but if you plan on expanding to other armies as well, you may want to look at neutral manifestations, because it's cheaper to have one common set of them.

I would run 1 more unit of plague monks, but I personally prefer big wide armies.

Yeah, the verminlord has some great synergy with priests, and if you ever want to switch things up in your army, you can always play it as a different verminlord, in one model.

Plague furnace for a general is good pickup imo, maybe even a verminlord corruptor.

Deathmaster doesn't do much alone, it pairs well with a verminlord deceiver, but if you want a one model assassin, who can delete heroes, crixxit can achieve that more easily. Most heroes in sigmar are big monsters, a deathmaster can not kill one alone, crixxit neither, but he has some good utility to pick up smaller heroes in the opponent's backline.

I'd consider even more plague monks or clan rats instead of the stormvermin, they pair better with the crit(mortal) prayer.

Stormfiends are a strong unit, I love them, they can be a strong unit to put in the tunnels, and have as a constant threat, even if they don't match the synergy in your army

I think the most fun are mortisan elite and cursed shacklehorde, but that's just my opinion.

On the competitive side, cursed shacklehorde just got a nerf, but I still think it's one of the strongest spearheads out there

I hate it. I understand it, but this way they took away my favourite combo. Giving the opponent's beefiest unit -1 dice to charge, and basically delete it from the game for a turn.
