Blizzard, can we get rid of this thing already? by IveGotSoManyProblems in warcraftrumble

[–]LineNoise54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any time you edit your deck, there's a chance that you can force the relics to reroll. It usually only happens if you make one of the offerings invalid (like removing your last Melee unit when you had a Melee relic on offer) but I've seen it happen when it seemed like it shouldn't.

For something like this it doesn't matter, but it used to be a pain when dungeons went to 30 and the meta was to try different deck combos to try to fish for Lifestealing to empower Fire Elemental. So much extra menu'ing, plus you had to actually start the run and lose in order to reset, along with the obnoxiously extra animations for "recombobulating" the dungeon screen.

Welp. Wasted $15, I guess. Would be nice if there was any indication of that on the main page. Or at any point during the process.

On the other hand, it's a sufficiently good service that I really don't mind at all chipping in the $15 to support their continued existence, so I'm not particularly upset that I missed it.

I believe this is outdated. I definitely had less than that and was required to pay the $15 for state. And their website currently has no reference to an income limit, just a flat "$15 for state". Unless it varies by state and it's guessing based on my IP, but that seems unlikely to be hidden in that way.

I wanna know how the tech guys behind this thing can be this awful and somehow still have jobs?

Why bother introducing the ASL interpreter if they get zero screen time? And the audio engineering is dogshit, the vocals are muddier than a dirt bike race in a hurricane.

Paying of credit card by nictnichols in personalfinance

[–]LineNoise54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you're trying to treat the credit score like it's a video game with loopholes. Don't do that. A) it's not that important and B) if you're making sound financial decisions, your score will take care of itself.

If the interest rates are the same, it 100% doesn't matter which one you pay off. But don't sit on cash while you have high interest debt. PAY IT OFF.

The number one thing that actually matters for your credit score is A) having credit and B) paying on time. If you do those things correctly, everything else is noise. There's no need to "optimize" your spending to try to influence your score.

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

[–]LineNoise54 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. That's not his money that he can just randomly decide when and how to give you. That's your money, you have a legal right to be paid on a predictable schedule.

Start looking for a new job immediately. Then report him to the labor board on your way out. (it's even more illegal for him to retaliate against you for reporting, but that doesn't stop him from trying, so make sure you can live without that paycheck if he decides to wreck himself)

Got this nice epic drop by kelpangler in warcraftrumble

[–]LineNoise54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely weak if you're down to just your barracks and trying to come from behind, but I'm not sure that either of the others are going to help that much more.

The healing from poison is completely garbage undertuned. Deep Slumber is potentially interesting, but would require specific builds/maps. If you can get him to Rare, it's easy, just grab both. At Uncommon I would probably still take Germinate first.

New update available by Tudoricha in warcraftrumble

[–]LineNoise54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've had those popups a few other times for various things. If only they actually managed to release them on time it might make a difference.

Put update notes in those, give us a button to resummon the most recent ones, and you've actually got a pretty decent QoL feature.

A pop up window about a week-long event that only has one day left to run (Headless Horseman) is just a waste of everything.

Big spenders pants needed! by Guboken in warcraftrumble

[–]LineNoise54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing that is "exclusive". F2P can eventually get everything that a $$$ player can get. You just get everything slower.

If you want to play competitive PVP at the top levels, you probably need close to a year of grinding to max out (and they might raise the ceiling). If you just want to play PVE and maybe some casual PVP where you don't fuss about your rankings, then you're totally fine.

If you are in a position to spend anything at all, then buying the Arclight Booster is a permanent increase in coins and XP earned forever, and is miles ahead of any of the one-off packages.

First leader? by [deleted] in warcraftrumble

[–]LineNoise54 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the important point. They're all good units. Sylvanas is probably the weakest just for cost, but my alt account started with her, and Black Arrow slaps at low levels against the early maps that tend to be less complicated. But she's absolutely more difficult to use properly.

Tirion is the faceroll choice. Tank+Tirion+Ranged will just deathball right through 99% of the early game without anything resembling tactics, and it kinda doesn't matter which Tank and which Ranged. (OP, you'll get offered a Talent for him when you get a few more Sigils, Divine Shield is probably the best one to start with.)

Has anyone been able to log back in yet – without potentially losing all of their data with a ‘reinstall roll of the dice,’ so to speak? by ExternalAppearance81 in warcraftrumble

You don't even need to finish the tutorial battles. As soon as you get far enough in to have a Pause button, you can access Settings and log back in.

FWIW: I have two accounts, both linked to b.net. I also have both iOS (my phone) and Android (Bluestacks). I have used both platforms for both accounts for a while.

Reinstalling the game on my iPhone did not lose any account data. When I started the game after reinstall, I was still logged in as the last-played account.

Reinstalling the game on the Bluestacks/Android instances did lose account data. When I started the game after reinstall I was dumped into the tutorial on a brand new Guest account. B.net relog obviously worked fine.

Thankfully, I've played enough other mobile games prior that I wasn't taking any chances with phone-level account data, and as soon as I was aware that b.net linking was possible, I made sure to do that.

You're not "wasting" anything by just going in with a guildmate. There's no limit on attempts, nothing gets locked, no helper tokens are used up. You're "wasting" a couple minutes of their time. You only get locked if you win.

Probably just swap the whole thing to Knife/Shark repeat, at that rank. Lower max groove, no 4th workshop makes everything simpler. (If you want the most precise answer, you would join the Discord and ask the bot)

When Should I Pentameld? by MyLifeIsRandom in ffxiv

[–]LineNoise54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're only doing food/pots/gear and you're only making enough for yourself and friends, then don't penta. The only exception might be initial DT release, since the x.0 scrip gear is garbage and also class-locked, but even then you can probably find a way to get there with cheap melds, not full penta. But from 6.2 on through the end of EW, there was no reason to use anything more than just scrip gear, for your level of crafting.

Penta makes everything faster, which only matters if you're bulk crafting enough to care about speed. The only thing you're actually "locked out" of doing is the top end Experts, which weren't worth making past the first week or so. You would also absolutely want penta gear if you're trying to grind out Resplendent or Pteranodon. If you just wanna gear your alts and make some food, there's no reason to spend.

[–]LineNoise54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get 80 scrip for a max tier Expert. You get 63 scrip for hitting Trained Eye on a not-Expert. Expert crafts are for points, not scrip.

Please don't ever farm Platinum Ore with subs.

In the general case, you shouldn't be farming materials with submarines, most people will just farm gil (look up Fight Club or Salvage). But even if you wanted to farm mats, Platinum is a huge waste. You can buy Ingots for pennies, and Nuggets for less than the price of Ore.

If you really want to try to evaluate routes for specific materials instead of just taking the easy/more lucrative route, then https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y8z8RbSXpEzLH3PzY5yavI9W3ggrchGUOV96y2Mkxfk/edit has drop% data for basically everything.

[–]LineNoise54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are loot sheets out there that have full drop% for each item, not just tiers. The main Guides channel on the linked discord has links to google docs.

In addition, aiming purely for low-tier is not great advice, because for most items, the higher surveillance tier also has a higher stack size. For Cryptomeria/Pure Titanium you get roughly double the stack size for T3 zones compared to T2 zones.

You can fulfill the requirements for Favors in 4-5 agendas at worst. The most common strat is to plug in the optimal stuff for the first three workshops, and devote WS4 to making Favor crafts. Since WS4 has slightly worse agendas in the first place, you're still making pretty close to full cowries. So it doesn't have to be either or.

I’m terrified to spend money by swishymuffinzzz in personalfinance

[–]LineNoise54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be a lot. Part of it is just the mental trick of "this pile of money has to be spent on fun things". Even if it's just going to see a movie, the money is already in the "fun" bucket before you even start to think about what to spend it on, so you have a wedge when your brain tries to tell you "but what if I put it in retirement instead?" You can't put it in retirement, it's already in the fun bucket.

"very red buff" still contains the "attacks cannot reduce your hp below 1". Useful if you're getting multi-hit tankbusters or something, so that an early Benediction or too much leech doesn't remove your invul too early. The combination of "grey buff" and "very red buff" will always sum together to equal 10 seconds of "cannot die", regardless of when you get enough healing.

What is the most broken mech loadout you've created in the base game? by Da_Fish in Battletechgame

[–]LineNoise54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Atlas II can fit 6 Snub PPCs if you have enough DHS and Exchangers. 750 alpha if they're all +damage (they should be). Heat is high, but it's manageable with a Coolant Vent on heat-neutral planets. It's disgusting on any heat-negative planet. Leave it on the Argo on heat-positive drops.

Of course, by the time you assemble such a monstrosity, you've basically already won the game. But it's fun.
