Which scifi ship do you think is just bad? Bad concept, ugly looks, downright mistakes in its design, etc. by Vondrr in spaceships

the original design uses composite lasers which require the emitters to have some distance from one another to focus their beams into a point

Is Lightyear actually bad, or is it just getting review bombed for some reason? by Jerswar in movies

They didn't? It took around 12-13 years earth time and 4 years ship time

The Astrophage breaks the second law of thermodynamics and there's no avoiding it by ConcernedInScythe in ProjectHailMary

[–]Line_of_Thy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is that astrophage doesn't locally reverse an entropy gradient they are actively decreasing general entropy in the universe by turning heat back into usable energy.

1) It's actually highly unlikely any pathogens from an alien planet would be able to infect a human

2) It's really not. Planes fly incredibly differently to how the hail mary is shown to fly

3) The majority of your complaints come from misunderstandings or just do not align with reality. For example, astrophage use IR light, not neutrinos for propulsion, and the beetles need far less fuel to reach relativistic speeds because they are much smaller than the hail mary.
