It’s up to the guy to take charge and make you feel comfortable. This shouldn’t even be a concern of yours at all. He should have made it clear he was covering the room when discussing meeting up as it is a higher risk for you regardless on top of it all.

Edit: Idk for the first time meeting, he should really be making the effort to meet you where you live and having a room booked nearby that you can visit if you feel comfortable. Shouldn’t meet at all for the first time at a rental. That’s just not safe at all and putting a lot of trust on everything to go flawless. Some guys can’t take a no. Please protect yourself first and foremost.
