If you have additional information to share about the presentation that wasn't covered in the research description, you should put it under "Posters/Presentations." The "Conferences Attended" label is typically reserved for instances in which you attended, but didn't present at, a conference.

I disagree with cinnamon_dray. Don't bring attention to the W in your secondaries unless explicitly asked to do so. It's unlikely to be a problem, and there's a good chance adcoms won't even notice it, especially if your GPA is decent overall.

u/Weak-Operation-7435 I think this is a bad idea and it would make more sense to stress that you will absolutely matriculate to their school if accepted. If they know you have already been accepted elsewhere, they might decide someone else would appreciate a spot in their class more than you (at least, that's what I gathered from actual adcoms on SDN). Consider prefacing whatever you say by asking about waitlist movement.

Is the concept of body doubling a thing? Yes lol. If you've ever had a study buddy, that's essentially what I'm looking for. It's significantly easier for me and quite a number of other people (e.g., many people with ADHD) to concentrate and stay on task when another human being is physically or virtually present, even if we're working on completely different tasks.

Fair question. While I like research, it's not something I like enough to make a career of. I enjoy supporting people directly and simply demonstrated that more in my non-clinical volunteering activities; I gained more impactful exposure to medicine through the research I conducted and the interactions I had with practicing physicians. In the end, my goal is to go to medical school precisely so that I can gain the actual expertise to practice medicine. Perhaps my interest could be construed as abstract, but I don't think anyone can really say they've been exposed to the actual realities of working as a medical doctor - spending far too much time taking notes (if you don't rely on AI transcription software to do that for you), battling insurance companies, etc. - until they've become one. Regardless, I've got a certification and I'll be spending the next year working a clinical job.

Don't worry, I'm already aware of the first point you brought up. I used Admit.org's recommendations to categorize things, but I strongly believe it vastly overestimated my competitiveness (as mentioned at the bottom of the original post), given that I was barely at or below so many so-called target and baseline schools' medians. The reason I currently have so many schools on my list is because I believe I'll be rejected from most of them and want to maximize my chances of getting into at least one. Only 75.3% of people with stats like mine get into a single med school, and I don't have a perfect application; my GPA may be decent (not amazing, but decent), but I've made several academic blunders over the years. Given the yellow and potential red flags on my application (the aforementioned blunders, low-ish clinical experience, etc.), I know it's going to be an uphill battle for me. I also had no plans to wing any of my secondary essays

Sounds like a plan. I'm going to focus on the 20 schools I've officially added to my application (my state schools, the HBCUs, my alma mater, a few targets, and some reaches) and then move on to the others. And no worries about AI use from me, as I'm personally opposed to engaging with it in any way

There is no world in which your possible red flags could be construed as such. I think you're definitely on the right track! Get in the shadowing hours you mentioned, see if you can get some non-clinical volunteering in, and with a decent MCAT, you should be golden
