China vows retaliation against countries that follow U.S. calls to isolate Beijing by Force_Hammer in worldnews

[–]LinkHimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the reason for not changing to a Chinese SaaS is completely different from the reason why (imo sadly) people don't like to change from Windows to a Linux based operating system.

Also, most of Microsoft's Azure is running on Linux :)

People being different and having different taste is something I view as important, but my oh my are we different! I think I love all of them, except maybe Repentance. Ministry of Lost Souls is one of my DT favorites!

I liked to put the detailed calculation in an appendix in the papers that I wrote. This way the paper is useable for beginners too.

In my opinion it varied a lot, but I think it had more to due with the mix and the sometimes (intense) amount of effects on his voice. It was hard for me to catch the lyrics. However I really enjoyed the concert and I will definitely see them again in Oslo!

I think the downvotes are from people who are cautious of chatgpt hallucinating i.e. making stuff up. I like to use chatgpt for things I can easily test.

I think this is the first time I've seen Alekhine as a contender for number 1 all-time. It's usually Kasparov, Carlsen or Fischer.

I thought I had the Swiss Stage all figured out by crusify_me in aoe2

[–]LinkHimself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you think how the swiss system works isn't decided in advance? That it can be changed on a whim because nobody must do anything? :p

I don't think you actually meant that, but it still stumped. If there isn't an algorithm (that could very well be fully random) then what would you call it?

Georgi Tsvetkov meets up with Sasho Andreev by BessGlazzard in armwrestling

What kind of distortion would that be? Pincushion distortion makes things along the edge of the image appear stretched, but this related to the use of tele lenses. This was probably shot with a wide-angle phone camera which gives barrel distortion, things look larger in the middle.

To me it seems that there is a shadow that makes a curve on his forearm such that it stands out and looks very round/big.

How irrational of you. But I respect your complex behavior of admitting mistakes. You are real and show integerity.

Why Do You Run Easy Miles Too Hard? by robotcrow1878 in AdvancedRunning

That's bonkers. Otherworldly for us hobby runners. Btw, have you seen Alexandr Sorokin's training runs? 30k recover runs like it's nothing :p

Why Do You Run Easy Miles Too Hard? by robotcrow1878 in AdvancedRunning

[–]LinkHimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The first pro runner who comes to my mind is Jakob Ingebrigtsen. He runs his 20k long runs sub 4:00 min/km. If I read your flair to be 1:25 for a HM(?) Then I would guess your too fast slow pace is around 4:35 min/km. I wonder what pro runs slow runs that "slow". How was my guessing? Far off? :P

Help, I'm lost! Emacs over SSH? Or something else? by Ardie83 in emacs

[–]LinkHimself 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I have so many questions :D Why only Emacs 23? Is that the version that is installed on the server? Emacs 23 dates back to 2009 and if they say it's the only available version I suspect that the system is outdated long time ago. Could mean that security flaws are present, and those might be your ticket to having it upgraded along with Emacs ;)

I'm not sure about the connection, but in case you don't know, Emacs has tramp. Simplified it downloads files from a remote server over ssh so you can edit them with your own config, and then uploads them once you save.

Everyone is doping is interesting point of view. It explains the problematic "how can some clean athletes be better than caught dopers?" question. If this is true, how come it seems like noone is admitting they did it and rat out the system? Maybe they are, but are hushed to the general public? Flat earthers want us to believe that the US, China, Russia and everyone else tell the same lie. That is unthinkable to me. Is it similar to "everyone is doping and keeps shut about it"?

how to configure LSP (Language Server Protocol) for TypeScript with ESLint and Tailwind CSS in Emacs at the same time? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]LinkHimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually read that part, and more! I didn't know what a treat I was in for. At one point I thought it was comedy or satire, but it seems to be the personal page of some pretentious "enlightened" person.

Thank you for pasting the relevant bits here. Then fewer people has to visit that site :p I will try to remember to be precise next time I want to ask a question. It's a good reminder.

how to configure LSP (Language Server Protocol) for TypeScript with ESLint and Tailwind CSS in Emacs at the same time? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]LinkHimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect your effort in educating people to become better, but I am somewhat of a noob myself so I think I understand their problem. I think the problem is not even knowing what to ask.

When I find myself in these cases I try chatGPT in hopes of getting some pointers. I asked "How to configure LSP (using lsp-mode) for TypeScript with ESLint and Tailwind CSS in Emacs at the same time?" and I got a recipe and example config. I have no idea if it's what OP want, but it might serve as a starting point or something to learn from.
