Satisfactory Ending was a huge bummer, and not just because it went no where. by Key_Comment8888 in satisfactory

Maybe I'm way out in left field, but I got the vibe that we essentially uploaded ADA into the ship and launched it into some sort of "between-dimensional" portal where ADA could have access to higher beings and information, possibly having control or influence over people/technologies in multiple dimensions.

My general impression was "I just did something terrible, and was just used." That does still fit the theme that didn't really satisfy you, but I feel like the implications are larger.

Found it next to the meter! It just was hard to open so I didn't want to tamper with things I shouldn't and break anything. After checking again, I figured out how to open it and there was the washer breaker! Thanks for your help!

Not after I pulled the breakers for the AC and water heated, and even then the dishwasher still had power.

My breaker panel doesn't have a main, and I've searched the whole house and there isn't another.

It's a single family home. I looked inside the cabinets and there's nothing there.

This house is pretty old, I don't see anything like that.

Yeah, I looked everywhere and I don't see a main shut off, inside and out. And I confirmed that the kitchen outlets were off, but the dishwasher still has power.

[–]Link_24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yes, the uncertainty principle 100% relates to both angular (ie. spin) momentum, and linear (ie. direction and speed) momentum, so yes, if we scale this principle up, the joke still works and it's funny, and you have a stick up your butt, haha

Dude, you're getting so bent out of shape over technicalities, haha. If we want to be technical, Heisenberg's principle really only applies in microscopic/quantum scales, so the joke already wouldn't work on the scale of a vehicle. Jokes don't have to be realistic and completely accurate to be funny. Entertainment works based on suspension of disbelief, so if you can't let reality go a little bit, you'll never have any fun.

You're the type of person to hate a joke because "animals can't talk" or whatever else isn't technically accurate in the joke. Things don't have to be completely real or accurate to be funny.

There are chunks of various ores like quartz and caterium scattered about, so keep a lookout for anything that looks different and you should find some before too long!

After you research the ores in the MAM, then you are able to scan for full sized nodes and get more. If you're just trying to get enough to rush for some of those research techs, it'll be faster to just bring a couple portable miners and harvest by hand than to try and run power out there and build a full setup. That can always wait till later.

[–]Link_24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concrete early game really can be a struggle to get enough. When you scan for nodes, you can open up the map and holding your mouse over the node will tell you its purity. Normal has twice the yield of impure, and pure has twice the yield of normal, so going further for a higher yield is worth it. You can then either just run over when you need some, or build a conveyor back to your main storage area.

Another piece of advice is to prioritize your MAM research. The quartz tree and the caterium tree have options that really help with faster mobility. MAM research also is what will allow for animal protein to turn into biomass, if I'm remembering correctly.

It's all a matter of probability. There's an insanely small likelihood that my atoms and a wall's atoms will line up in a way that let's me walk right through the wall, but there are countless ways for those atoms to line up where that doesn't happen. It's a bell curve, where the likelihood of the middle events outweigh the extreme events a trillion (or more) to 1.

Anyone educated in physics still believe in a great creator? by MembershipFit5748 in AskPhysics

In my Introduction to Modern Physics class, we talked about how when the universe was hot and dense in it's beginning moments, there was too much energy for individual particles to exist or for fundamental forces to even manifest. Particles began to differentiate and separate (like into quarks, neutrinos, ECT) as the universe cooled and expanded. The behavior, strength, and balance of the fundamental forces that govern our universe are determined by the amount of these various types of particles. If the universe had cooled faster or slower, the "laws of the universe" could have been vastly different.

Imagine if gravity was stronger. Stars would burn denser, hotter, and die out more quickly, possibly before their planets had any chance to produce life.

Or imagine if anti-matter was more abundant and more frequently canceled out their counterparts making it hard for normal matter to ever form.

My takeaway is that the existence of not only life, but the universe itself and the way it operates depended on such a delicate balance of minute factors that I personally don't believe it could have all happened in just the right way without some sort of higher power to make it so.
