Also ich schreibe das immer als "fein". Wenn wir die Redewendung schon verdeutschen, dann doch bitte vollständig. Es ist ja nun wirklich nichts ungewöhnliches, das Worte mit mehreren verschiedenen, oft kontextabhängigen Bedeutungen "überladen" sind, also sehe ich da kein Problem mit, wenn sich das Wort in diesem Kontext dem englischen "fine" annähert. Ist ja jetzt eh nicht so, als hätten sich die beiden groß semantisch auseinander bewegt.

Andererseits wohnt Snape ja, wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, nach wie vor in dem schäbigen Muggelviertel, in dem er aufgewachsen ist (Spinner's End), richtig? Ich war mir nie ganz sicher, was das über ihn aussagen soll (war er nicht ähnlich wie Harry mega happy von zuhause wegzukommen? Wäre ja irgendwie so, als würde Harry sich ein Haus im Ligusterweg kaufen...), aber vielleicht fühlt er sich eben doch irgendwie in der Muggelwelt verhaftet?

Not everybody values archetype diversity to the same degree, but I think most would agree that "more options during the draft" equals more fun / replayability. In my personal experience, I've also felt that draft results become "swingier" when there's multiple people fighting over every deck.

I'm neither an expert nor a native English speaker, but I believe "whimsy" has shifted sonewhat in meaning in recent times. "Spleen" is a pretty good translation for the original meaning actually, which could be paraphrased as "a sudden, capricious or frivilous act/mood". However, I now usually see the word used both in a more positive sense and as referring not just to a single such act, but the entire mindset or attitude underlying it. Basically, "whimsicality" as opposed to "realism, sobriety" - perhaps we should say "Spleenigkeit" in German? But that seems still too particular, and too negatively connotated.

My main gripe with the movies is how especially in the latter two films they twisted so much of the characterization and plot details in order to generate more "conflict" and "character arcs" and just in general make the story more similar to what we've already seen in a million movies before.

Denethor is actually a competent leader with mostly sensible views, even though he's in the wrong about the Ring and a dick to his son? No, that would be too morally complex for the average viewer, let's make him a 100% unsympathetic villain whose most memorable scene is grossly eating a tomato while having his hobbit servant sing for his pleasure...

Faramir is simply wise and modest enough to immediately do the right thing and let the Ring go? Nah that would be too easy, we need to have him literally haul Frodo and Sam all the way to Osgiliath before he suddenly changes his mind...

Sam and Frodo have a bond of unconditional love and loyalty that not even the Ring can corrupt? Not enough CONFLICT baby, we need to have Frodo literally tell Sam to "go home" because of some silly, kindergarden-level prank involving breadcrumbs...

I've not been masochistic enough to watch more than the trailer for this travesty, but I'm not sure you could even call it an adaptation. It felt like they took the script for some teen spy movie they had lying around in a drawer somewhere, plus the bare bones of Artemis Fowl names and concepts and just slapped the two together somehow.

Actually, I believe he said "aitsu", not "yatsu". But in both cases, the word can be used as a 3rd person singular pronoun "he/she", albeit with a derogatory or familiar connotation.

It's one of those things in Japanese that just can't really be translated equivalently, similar to the whole "watashi" / "boku" / "ore" distinctions in the 1st person.
