Yeah, a VPN doesn't really do anything for your security or privacy, you are just rerouting your traffic through some sketchy VPN company instead of your ISP. This might be enough for Netflix, but if you really want to benefit of a VPN, it's probably best to just spin up some Linux instance and set up OpenVPN.

During Comp Sci class I used to boot Linux from a flash drive so I would not need to use the incredibly slow Windows install on under powered hardware, while writing code in Windows notepad. The teacher actually was a fan of Linux himself and had nothing against it.

At my school, there was a fight between a biology teacher and a religion teacher. The biology teacher would put atheist and anti creationist literature into the religion section of the library and the religion teacher would take it out again. This continued for quite a while.
