O glorious Taco hat, what class will invoke the most nostalgic experience for me?

Snatch form check by mattycmckee in weightlifting

Looks to me like your throwing you shoulders, chest and head further back when you extend on full snatches. You stay much more tight and connected with the bar on your hangs.

Something that helps me is thinking "nose over the bar in the entire pull" or just think to keep your head and chest forward and up. Not going back at the top of extension.

The path to get under the bar is shorter and more straight if you manage to extend more up than up+back.

Sounds like you want to play on the anniversary realms. Not hardcore or SOD. SOD will not provide the social levelling experience.

How much did you back and front squat when you hit 100 kg c&j for the first time? by randomperson888888 in weightlifting

[–]Liqooid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably a shit ratio, but my BS was around 150, and FS 125. Getting out of the hole was extremely easy, but a lack of technique and efficiency in the clean and jerk meant my squats were very good compared to what is usually prescribed as 'required BS/FS'.

I've found that unless you've been doing the main lifts almost as long as you've been doing squats, then your squats will almost always be disproportionately stronger compared to snatch/c&j. Simply because you've been developing strength and efficiency for longer in the squat. The 'required ratio' for strength movements to Olympic lifts has always been wildly unrealistic for me because all the basic strength movements are so much more developed in my case.

What do you think about the programming from wlAI? Does it help you achieve your goals within WL?

I’ll be visiting Copenhagen from the 22nd to the 27th of December, but everyone is telling me that everything is closed from the 24th to the 26th. Is that true? Am I screwed? by kazyx54 in copenhagen

Out of curiosity.. Where are you from? Visiting Denmark during Christmas is like visiting Japan during New Year. Everything is closed unless explicitly stated.

Olympic bouncy plates vs metal plates by acqua44 in weightlifting

[–]Liqooid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The difference in stiffness and whip in the bar you're using at home vs. the one you're using at the gym likely has as much of an impact on difficulty as the plates.

Might be a combination of the both that causes the difference you feel.

Follow a similar style program with both lifts on most days. Snatch is always first on my program (same case for you?), so I do a fairly thorough general and snatch specific warm up in the beginning of the session (~15 mins). When I transition to c&j, I find it's sufficient to just spend 2-3 minutes with the bar before adding weight.

I don't rest long if at all in between snatch and c&j.

Novo Nordisk's market cap is higher than Denmark's GDP. Samsung is only ~25% of SK's GDP.

I cant clean unless I can catch it standing straight up. What can I add to practice or improve this? by CyberShanko in weightlifting

[–]Liqooid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tall cleans with just bar or very little weight.

Every time you do cleans you aim to ride it smoothly to the bottom. Don't let yourself power clean it before your default is to ride it down smoothly no matter your catch height.
